Seven Paces Interview! New Six Questions with Matt and Justin (June 2026)

Treasure hunters have been keeping a close eye on Seven Paces, and for good reason. In this special Six Questions – Seven Paces interview, I sat down with Matt and Justin to talk about their growing lineup of treasure hunts, how previous hunts were solved, what searchers may be missing in A Fortune Lies in Vermont, and the exciting announcement of a brand-new $25,000 hunt coming this August.

You can watch on Video – or Read the highlights below:

  • Q1) What are enjoying about the process of creating Treasure Hunts?

When asked what they enjoy most about creating hunts, Matt and Justin didn’t talk first about puzzles or hidden containers, they talked about people.

“The thing I enjoy the most are the stories people send us. Families spending time together, getting outside more, solving problems together, and making memories.”

They shared several examples of hunters who used the adventures as a way to connect with family, explore parks, and take a break from life’s challenges. It’s a reminder that the best treasure hunts often become much more than a search for a prize.

  • 2Q) How was The Legend of Griggs Gold solved?

The Legend of Griggs Gold was one of Seven Paces’ biggest hunts. It hid a treasure valued at $20,000. The intended solve was as follows:

Each chapter contained a specific number – which corresponded to a real park or public space in Grand Forks. Hunters were meant to extract a character from a plaque using that number. Combining all the characters revealed a secret website. The website then presented a final riddle leading to the treasure.

Although the winner ultimately solved it through a different route, the interview revealed just how much thought went into the original puzzle structure.

  • Q3) How was The Tucson Pursuit solved?

For the Tucson Pursuit at Seekers Summit, Seven Paces took a different approach by using their NEW Seven Paces app. Hunters received location-based riddles, traveled to specific sites, answered questions, and entered solutions into the app. Correct answers unlocked the next clue, giving players immediate confirmation that they were on the right track.

One of the most memorable moments? A dedicated Seven Paces fan from Grand Forks flew to Tucson after solving much of the hunt remotely and ultimately found the treasure.

  • Q4) What’s happening with the $2500 hunt: A Fortune Lies in Vermont? Any clues?

$2,500 Still Unsolved. Hunters searching for A Fortune Lies in Vermont received several valuable hints during the interview. Matt and Justin revealed that:

  • The treasure is a chrome, watertight canister.
  • It is within three miles of where hunters would park.
  • The hunt is closely connected to their real-life adventure near Little Rock Pond and the Appalachian Trail.
  • They believe searchers have been close, but may be missing one or two key clues that narrow the area dramatically.

One of the biggest takeaways:

“The book follows our actual Vermont adventure, and some clues are meant to get you into the general area while a few others point to a very specific spot.”

  • Q5) What else have you got going on?

The Big Announcement: A New $25,000 Hunt. Launching Around August 21

The biggest news of the interview was the official reveal that Seven Paces is preparing a new Grand Forks treasure hunt worth $25,000.

Here’s what we know so far:

  • $20,000 cash
  • $5,000 custom diamond jewelry piece
  • Book-based hunt
  • Expected launch around August 21
  • Centered in Grand Forks, North Dakota
  • An e-book option through the Seven Paces app is planned
  • Hunters may be able to verify progress through the app
  • Q6) What hunts are you searching yourselves?

Like many creators, Matt and Justin are also active hunters. They shared that they’ve been heavily focused on There’s Treasure Inside, particularly the Appalachian Trail and Lion’s Share boxes.

They even joked that if they found a box, they might try to keep it secret. Though they admitted they probably wouldn’t be able to stay quiet for long.

Final Thoughts

This interview offered a fascinating look behind the scenes of one of the most independent treasure-hunting brands today. From multi-layered puzzle design to app-driven hunts and a newly announced $25,000 adventure, Seven Paces is clearly aiming to grow far beyond local searches.
