David Jacobsen released The Mad Tea Party, a fully armchair treasure hunt, soon after The Hatter’s Hat treasure hunt in 2020. Both of these are part of The Wonderland Treasure Hunts.

The Hatter’s Hat treasure hunt requires physically retrieving a proxy item, hidden somewhere in the US, to claim the treasure valued at over $10,000 in its Wonderland hunt. Clues to finding this treasure are in the book, The Hatter’s Hat, which is available on amazon or on The Wonderland Treasure’s website.

The Mad Tea Party book includes 3 riddles. To claim their treasures (valued a few hundred dollars each), a person needs to only submit the correct solution to the riddle once solving it.

The March Hare Riddle is the only riddle which remains to be solved in The Mad Tea Party hunt.  Two of the three riddles, The Queen’s Riddle and The Cat’s Riddle, have been solved.  Do their solutions offer hints on how The March Hare Riddle is to be solved?  Let’s have a look at those solutions.

First The Cat’s Riddle.  This was the last Riddle given in the book. It was the following:

“My name is Hiby, and Hiby means me, but what on earth do you think I could be?”

“What is the answer to my riddle?” said the Cat.

_ _ _ _  _ _  _  _ _ _ _ _

The correct submission was:  Hiby is a Witch

This was found by taking the first letters of all the poem’s in the section, after the Queens’ Riddle section, and reading in reverse.

This wasn’t difficult to find.  The answer was confirmed by the blank spaces given after the riddle – which since each poem provided a letter, the number of blank spaces matching the number of poems, may have been a hint towards finding the answer.

Next The Queen’s Riddle. This was the second riddle in the book. It was the following:

“Hearts are red and full of love.

But what two words am I thinking of?”

“What is the answer to my riddle?” said the queen.

_ _ _ _    _ _ _ _ S

The answer to this riddle was found by discovering the original image by Tenniel, when compared to the image in The Mad Tea Party book, differed.  Instead of ‘three birds’ in the sky, there were ‘four birds’.

The answer was: Four Birds

Searchers weren’t exactly happy with that answer, since it did require ‘outside knowledge’ of what the original image looked like.  Even if a bit random, it was a simple enough discovery. A possible clue for considering the image may have been that the Queen of hearts is in the image that differs with the amount of birds. Also it is readily known that images from the first released Wonderland book, The Hatter’s Hat, has differences. Maybe we can just learn from the Queen Riddle’s solution, and seriously consider that the differences in The Hatter’s Hat might be an important clue towards its solution.

So now The March Hare’s Riddle- which remains unsolved.

Each of the Riddles are positioned after different parts of the book. And after each Riddle is a description of the contents inside the treasure chest you will win by solving that riddle. The March Hare riddle comes first in the book. The Mad Tea Party Cache, which is what remains to be claimed, includes “a red ruby rhodium over silver ring; a green emerald rhodium over silver ring; a blue sapphire rhodium over silver ring, a 24k gold plated Alice in Wonderland Charm Bracelet, six silver walking liberty half dollars, one Turkish gold coin and a bed of world coins.” This all inside a beautiful wooden treasure chest.

Can it be assumed the answer to the March Hare’s Riddle will do the same as the other two riddles- that the answer comes within the text/images before the Riddle is given? This certainly seems likely.

There also seems to be quite a bit of word play going on in the March Hare’s riddle.  Moreso than the previous two solved riddles – which seems rather bland. The March Hare Riddle is much like a riddle to be solved.

While I can’t share the actual riddle– the book is available on Amazon (as Ebook or print) – it is again rather short, with blank spaces indicating how many letters are in the answer given after it.

David felt the riddles were easy enough to solve, without providing any clues. Will you be the one to solve the March Hare’s Riddle and claim the last remaining treasure cache of the Mad Tea Party?
