Beyond the Map’s Edge Page Clue? Where is the number for page 156? (Join discussions on the MW Discord!)
Anomalies are like red flags – they warn us something might be up. One anomaly noticed in the book, Beyond the Map’s Edge, is that page 156 doesn’t have its number. This is the only page that clearly doesn’t – when it could be there. There isn’t an image that takes up the space. It’s an anomaly.
Below are some pages with and without page numbers to illustrate the anomaly:
- If an image is in the space where a number could be – no matter. There isn’t an open space for a page number to be placed.
- A page number is placed when there is a space – EXCEPT for page 156. (and maybe 213 – but the image is close to bottom of page – so maybe/maybe not on that one)
So why no page number on page 156?
Is it a clue? Some theories:
- 12×13 = 156 Is it a clue to look at lines 12 and 13 in the poem to find a connection to this anomaly in some way?
- Does it refer to the time – 1:56 on a clock? The angle between the minute and hour hands is 82 and 278
- If 213 is also an anomaly – would we subtract 156 from 213 for 57? This would be similar to the ‘differences in the images’ not in the ebook (The images on page 4 and 117 are not in the ebook (their difference is 113 – possibly hinting to that longitude – more here) BUT…..57 would be significant in another way (if at all)
- Is the text on the page important? ‘A polite ‘nod’ is written….. could there be something in this for the ‘cipher’ which Justin has said is a ‘nod’ to the container? or what about ‘…up north’?
It’s odd page 156 is missing the page number. What it means, if anything, remains unclear.
