Possible New Evidence for the Lion’s Share Box to be in North Carolina!
(Join discussions on clues on the MW Discord, MW Forum, or MW Facebook Group page)
In the 2026 Six Questions with Jon Collins-Black, he writes (and write is key here. Jon has time to think and choose words if he wants instead of saying them on spot. Please know I’m NOT saying every single word choice is a clue but they’re worth considering and seeing what lines up or not)
But in Q3 Jon writes:
‘A large part of myself is reflected in this adventure, for better or worse.‘
Break down:
- Large Part? Does this hint to the Lion’s Share box – the Largest Box? Large part (the rest of this reply mentions the smaller boxes – so I think it’s definitely possible – at least as one meaning).
- Reflected? He lives in California – He grew up in North Carolina – Opposite coasts. Reflected…
- For better or worse? Sounds like Wedding Vows… Husband/Wife – maybe His parents – Mother and Father.
Keep that in mind…. For a minute…
Then In Q6 Jon Writes about his children’s book – Our Unbreakable thread – He adds after commenting that he doesn’t have plans at the moment on writing another:
(Besides, the clues in Our Unbreakable Thread can take you pretty close to the Lion’s Share treasure already.)
From interviews we learned Jon didn’t want conversations of clues with the artist – and didn’t have access to those files.
And in the first Six Q’s with Jon he said:
‘I thought it would be fun to put an extra clue or two in Our Unbreakable Thread to assist in finding the largest treasure box I have hidden.‘
So how then did he put them in there? What if the Title itself – Our Unbreakable Thread – is the clue?
The story is about a Father and a Son -that Unbreakable Thread between them. Take his comment as a riddle – He says, ‘a clue or two’ -IN Our Unbreakable thread – Jon and his father.
His Father lives in North Carolina. He in California.
Go back to his reply to Q3 – where he wrties:
‘a large part of myself is reflected in this adventure’
His father could be considered a large part of himself –and living in North Carolina – on the opposite coast. Reflected in this adventure.
But there is possibly something else- the date the Six Questions were sent to me by Jon
In the first question on the Lion’s Share – Jon writes:
‘There are clues all over the book. I ponder how many people have figured out its state by now.’
‘By Now’ being the key word here – is it by 10/12? When he sent the Q’s? Searchers were reading them now – or by now.
X marks the spot – North Carolina? X being roman numeral for 10/ month of October – 12 for NC – 12th state.
Originally, the hunt was to launch on 10/21. Things happened – it was delayed to 11/12. I’ve noted in the Six Questions that Jon sent his replies to me (for the 2nd anniversary Six Q’s) on 10/12. I wasn’t expecting them on that date. I was expecting them more when he sent them last year – which was in November.
And I didn’t post them necessarily ‘early’ – I always posts things I receive from hunt creators – ASAP. Always have. Jon would most likely know this since he worked on the Forrest Fenn Hunt. MW was trusted and known for that. I would post Q/A’s with Forrest – ASAP (and note when sent)… because searchers always ask.
If anything – Jon sent them to me early. I’m just the trusted messenger.
Which I did post these 2nd anniversary Six Questions ASAP – and made note when he sent them – which was on the 12th.
Does the ‘NOW’ refer to this date?
It’s interesting that the original launch date of 21 (oct) – to when he actually launched on the 12 (nov) – are REFLECTions of each other 21 – 12 –
But could 10 / 12 – the date he sent these 6Q’s – be a clue to the state the Lion’s share box is in?
He grew up in NC. His father is in NC. Could it be in the 12th state.
Jon knows we searchers will dissect every word – and so he may have chosen words in the six Q’s – and sent them on 10/12 – To test our confirmation bias.
And it is. On every box. Which we have to be grateful. How confident are we of the clues we are following? Do they hold when testing the evidence objectively – with an open mind.
Which state would you put the Lion’s Share Box in?
I think the title of the book – Our Unbreakable Thread – linking Father and Son – leads me to at least consider NC a bit more seriously – even though I love the South Dakota and Washington State clues.
