Below is a list of Lost Treasure Box comments by Jon Collins-Black in regard to how Mother Nature is a Force! I also created a video listing these as well. That video is here: Mother Nature Comments by Jon – if you’d rather watch/listen.
In the ‘one year anniversary interviews’ in the Six Questions, Jon says:
“….Mother Nature seemed relentlessly hellbent on destroying one of our treasure boxes. I had to check to see if it was still safe where I left it. I am happy to report that it is.”
A lot of us are wondering which box and which disaster this might be. Recently it was brought up by BarryC on the MW discord about Dave’s interview with Jon posted back in March 2025. The American Treasure podcast.
Dave talks about the LA Fires and other disasters in this March 4 episode(48:30 Mark). Dave asks Jon if he worries about natural disasters or has any nervousness where the boxes are. I’d encourage you to take a listen. (AT Podcast E4).
Jon said he doesn’t worry about it – he says he is aware that:
- “Mother Nature is a force”
- “There is a possibility, always a possibility, and continues to be a possibility that Mother Nature will effect some box that I have hidden -either access for a period of time or in a really bad situation it could destroy a box or lose a box in some way that may never be recovered. That is part of the experience.”
He doesn’t want to put his finger on the scale.
- “It is an analog adventure in a digital world.”
- “There are boxes out there and Mother Nature is a player in this game.”
- “So I’m not worried about and I don’t expect it – but look after the floods my family went through and the fire we just had, it’s just a great reminder that MN is a force. And why we need to think about safety when we hunt and search for the treasures. Why we don’t want to play around with the weather conditions. Heat Cold Ice -things like that.”
- “So I’m not worried about it but is it possible? It’s certainly possible.”
- “What I would say is if some natural disaster happens that I think has destroyed a box or made a box forever inaccessible or lost then at some point I will go to that location and make a determination. And if that’s true I will let people know. I don’t want people searching for a box they can never find. I don’t’ want people wasting their time.”
- “If a box is temporarily blocked –you can’t get to it -or whatever the case may be – then I probably won’t ever mention it. Why because in a year or two later the box would be accessible and someone could find it.”
- “And that’s just MN playing a part in this adventure.”
- “For instance, if access to a box got blocked – and if I say ‘Oh BTW access to a box got blocked’ then I’ve basically narrowed the geography of where that is dramatically – I’ve put my finger on the scale and for what? A little bit of time? “
- “So if someone goes, ‘I think I know where a box is but can’t get to it’….then just be patient.”
Wait until it’s not blocked and go see……He’ll let you know if he feels a box is legitimately gone.
In that conversation with Dave and Jon – at times it sounded like the ‘Mother Nature’ event hadn’t happened yet – and this was in Spring of 2025. Especially the part where Jon said, “I’m not worried about it and I don’t expect it.”
However – at other times it sounded like maybe the event had happened. As if Jon’s already gone through this experience – and thought a lot about it. He’s not worried about it or doesn’t expect it – anymore – as if he has come to terms with the fact that ‘Mother Nature’ is a force.
Jon’s example of ‘Accessibility’ and ‘Patience’ seems one from experience. As if he has thought about this exact situation. Which connects to searchers thinking there is a box in the area of where Hurricane Helene traveled, then Jon could be saying – be patient – in time you can go check. Like maybe how he was patient- because maybe he himself had go check? That just speculation – and considering ideas.
In the cowlazars interview Jon mentions accessibility when asked if he was aware of road closures or natural disasters that made it less accessible. Jon answered:
- “Not less accessible because I was able to check on the one box that I had some concerns about. But yes, there’s been some events this year that were unfriendly.”
In THWU interview he was asked whether ‘this year’ was 2024 or 2025 – and Jon didn’t want to specify – suggesting he meant within the year of his hunt’s release and Jon said that “it could encompass more time for sure.” It seemed he definitely didn’t want to narrow it down to 2025 – either because that would narrow it down too far OR that was wrong.
Also…
When THWU asked Jon if he considered ‘Fire’ a natural disaster. He said, “I would consider a fire a natural disaster. Yeah.” He goes on to caution people to assume he’s talking about the fires that happened near his home though. He said its ‘highly unlikely probability’ that he’d hide one there in his backyard so to speak. BUT he goes on to defend that, “fires are definitely a natural disaster. I mean yeah even if man made I mean long before they were man made they still occurred right? And they’re natural and they’re a disaster so I definitely say so.”
I found that interesting…… Jon seemed to want to make clear that Fire is a natural disaster to him. This possibly suggesting the ‘natural disaster’ – while NOT the one near his home – was a fire. And so maybe NOT Hurricane Helene or other types of disasters……
