ROOM 52 Treasure Hunt releases 11/26/25! This is another great hunt by the team Quill & Compass. Their previous hunt, Amnesia, was released in June 2025 and was solved by September 2025. The $1000 treasure claimed in a few short months. What might happen with ROOM 52?!

- 1Q) Congrats once again on another book release! What are you enjoying most about creating these treasure hunt adventures?
Thanks, Jenny! We are really excited to present our next treasure hunt book, Room52. In addition to trying to create a range of unique puzzles, we especially enjoy writing the stories and designing visually interesting layouts that fit the theme of the book. This allows us to have lots of fun in all aspects.
- 2Q) Please share how someone can get involved in ROOM 52, and the treasure that is available to claim.

Room52 officially releases November 26. Once you have a copy, you can dive into the puzzles woven throughout the story and illustrations. Solve them correctly and you’ll be able to submit your final answers after January 15, 2026, for a chance to claim the treasure—valued at over $800, plus two special runner-up prizes.
We decided to open submissions in January for two reasons:
1. With the holidays approaching, we wanted to ensure that anyone gifting a copy of Room52 could do so without worrying the hunt would be solved before the recipient even received the book.
2. Because mail timelines can vary during the holiday season, delaying submissions helps level the playing field for everyone, no matter when their copy arrives.
You’ll also notice that when you purchase books through our website that we have partnered with IngramSpark, a publishing platform that supports independent bookstores and provides clear and consistent printing and distribution. This partnership allows us to support independent bookstores while maintaining high quality and reliable delivery.
- 3Q) Is the process of creating these puzzle hunts getting easier or harder? Do you think readers of your first book have an advantage, or do you intentionally change up your methods to keep a level playing field?
We learn so much with the creation of each book. While readers of The Bookshop and Amnesia might feel they have a general idea of how to approach our hunts, we do make a conscious effort to change our types of puzzles as well as the way we present clue information. We hope this serves to reach people with different levels and types of puzzle-solving skills.
- 4Q) In your previous Six Questions on Amnesia, you mentioned how clever and quick searchers can be at solving puzzles. How would you rate the difficulty level of ROOM 52? Do you feel it is more difficult to solve than both your previous books?
Although we did strive to make parts of Room52 slightly more challenging than the two previous hunts, we still expect to be surprised about how quickly eager searchers and their teams will solve some of the puzzles.
- 5Q)This is a favorite question of mine to ask because your response can really support those just entering the hobby. What guidance would you give to readers taking on your hunts for the first time – or had difficulty solving your last?
We always recommend to first read the entire book to absorb the story and to make note of parts to analyze. It’s a good idea to make a “checklist” of puzzles, ciphers, codes, etc. and the ways to identify them as you are reading puzzle and treasure hunt books.
Newer readers interested in the hunt should also consider joining community chat forums, like MW’s Discord or ProBoards. These spaces are great for sharing ideas, collaborating, and supporting one another. During Amnesia, for example, we noticed a solver mention a key insight in one of the chat rooms. It didn’t get much attention at the time—even though it was correct—but shortly afterward, several people submitted solutions using that very idea. It’s a good reminder of just how valuable community collaboration can be.
Room52 will also include a BOB (Back of Book) section, much like the one in Amnesia. It’s filled with extra puzzles that aren’t tied to the main storyline, offering puzzlers a fun space to practice, explore new ideas, or pick up a clever technique along the way.
- 6Q) Should readers expect another adventure after ROOM 52? What is ahead from Quill & Compass?
Most definitely! We have a goal of releasing two books per year, along with occasional surprises.
We also encourage fans to visit our website regularly. In addition to the complete solves for all our past books, we have other fun content and a growing selection of merch. We especially like our 2026 calendars we created that feature a new puzzle for every month. And for those curious about who Quill and Compass are, one of us will be attending Seeking Treasure Con 2026 in January, where we have also donated a few signed copies of our books for the event.
