JCB Treasure Boxes Hidden There's Treasure Inside FAQ's

How are the JCB treasure boxes hidden in the hunt There’s Treasure Inside? What do we know? Following are the things we’ve learned either in the book or by JCB (Jon Collins-Black) himself. (Full overview of treasure hunt)

How are the JCB Treasure Boxes Hidden?

  • The treasure boxes are NOT buried. They are hidden
  • Jon did not unearth any ground when hiding them
  • The actual treasure / puzzle boxes are protected – possibly in a pelican case or something similar
  • They are not hidden in any fake stumps or boulders – no gimmicky items like that
  • Jon said they are impossible to find in snow – suggesting low to the ground
  • They are not so far off a trail that you can get lost (however far that is?)
  • Jon said ‘check every nook and cranny’ – grid searching may help
  • They are in safe locations – not underwater, on a cliff’s edge, etc.
  • They are outside – none in man made structures
  • No special equipment – no shovel or metal detector necessary.

In the anniversary interview of Six Questions More with Jon he said the following about the Lion’s Share Box:

  • “The good news is once you are close to this box, it might surprise you how simple it was to find.”

Jon did say, however, “I’m not sure the boxes are just sitting out in the open”.

So the Question is ‘what is out in the open?’ Is nestled tight against a tree off a trail ‘out in the open’? Tucked under a bush or boulder – but able to be seen -not in the open?

If covered with something or under a large boulder with leaves blown in around the container – is that buried?

Those questions are difficult to answer. I think the only think we know is they are out there somewhere to be found! ha! Treasure the adventures!
