Congrats to TreasureGoonie on Lady Liberty’s found treasure #2!
Lady Liberty’s treasure hunt by Michael O’Connell is a hunt for multiple hidden treasure caches! Searchers are enjoying the book (available on the hunt’s website or on Amazon) – which hold the clues to find the treasure caches. As of this writing there seems to be at least 5 more to find!
The caches contain incredible historic items and other valuables. You can learn about the wonderful history of America while reading the book, and then visiting the many locations mentioned. Some of these locations have been found to hold the hidden caches! It’s truly a one-of-a-kind treasure hunt! Join the adventures and also join in on discussions of clues (on this hunt and many others) on the MW Discord.
But for now, let’s learn more about this found treasure – (at least what can be shared since more are out there to find)
Six Q with TreasureGoonie:
- 1Q) Congrats on finding the Cache! Please share a bit about where you found this particular cache and what inspired you to look for it!
It was in the Gettysburg area. I don’t want to name the exact location we found it so I’m not giving away any clues that would be beyond what Michael has made available in his book. I know it obviously wouldn’t matter for our treasure spot but it could maybe be applied to others that are still out there. And as far as the inspiration, I had just watched a story about the Forrest Fenn Treasure and decided to search online to see if there were any ongoing treasure hunts out there and “Lady Liberty” was one of them. That was in January, little did I know that this was a great time to discover this hobby. For it seems we could be in the “Golden Age” of treasure hunting.
- 2Q) Did the clues you were following lead you to an exact spot or was it more a general location? Were you confident with the clues of the location?
Definitely a general location. I felt that Gettysburg made a lot of sense since Michael had talked about the battle and the area a good bit in the book. I must say that we did get lucky in choosing where in Gettysburg to check first.
- 3Q) Please share the excitement of the find! You were with your son – I can only imagine the memories created. Had you been looking for a long time in the area or was it a quick find? Who found it – you or your son?
My son found the treasure. We were searching the area for an hour or two and were about to go out to lunch when we were looking in one last area that seemed unlikely and I suddenly heard my son say, “I think I found it.” We both have a pretty laid back temperament so there wasn’t any emotional outbursts or anything like that. But it was a cool experience and definitely a great memory we shared.
- 4Q) The Lady Liberty caches hold amazing items! Which is your favorite?
The treasure contained a coin from Forrest Fenn’s treasure chest. That’s definitely my favorite. I also really like the compass with the Robert Frost poem inscribed inside.
- 5Q) What are you enjoying most about the hunt for Lady Liberty’s treasure hunt (besides finding the cache, of course!)? Are you going after more?
You know I have to say it, “The Thrill of the Chase”. And yes, I have been to many other locations and will continue to search.
- 6Q) What advice might you have for others involved in the hunt?
Follow the clues, enjoy the history and the hunt!
