Six Questions with Michael D.

1)When did you first hear and learn about the Treasure Hunt?

I first heard about TTOTC and Forrest Fenn in late 2012, and began researching and reading whatever I could get a hold of. I think I was a serious searcher by the time Forrest appeared on the Today show with the first of his extra clues.

2)What inspired you to become involved and begin searching?

Wow. I was at an all time low in my life. Three major life events in a row had taken a toll on my psyche, and instead of sinking into the normal addictions that accompany depression, I sunk my heart and soul into the Chase. I spent every minute of free time I had searching and reading and scanning Google earth.

3)What is your most favorite part about the Treasure Hunt so far?

I have seen and experienced so much the Rocky Mountains have to offer. Things I never would have seen or experienced without TTOTC.

4)What is your least favorite part about the Treasure Hunt so far?

My obsession has become difficult for my spouse to understand and tolerate, and my latest plans to search are a source of friction.

5)What is the best or most unique thing you found while searching for Forrest Fenn’s treasure chest?

I have found humility and focus. I have found determination and wisdom. And I have found the word that is key, and the key word!😉

6) What more would you like to say?

I would like to encourage searchers to read the poem like you are drawing a line on a map, starting wwwh, and ending in the wood. While reading, use your imagination about how directions might be conveyed. I personally believe it is possible to solve the poem, not including the final clue, from the comfort of home. I haven’t always felt that way, but I am convinced of it now. I too believe the treasure could be discovered this year!

Thanks so much for such honest and heartfelt answers, Michael D.!  The Chase is a treasure in itself.  Finding the chest will only be a bonus!

Best of luck to all that you seek!  Always Treasure the Adventure!

  1. Michael, you have brought up some interesting points and I too believe one can look on google earth and use the poem as a map and find the treasure by using directions and whit and the TTOTC book. It is all hidden in there and Mr. Fenn’s words are scrambled up and we need to decipher them and quickly before someone finds the lock box soon. As always, still in the chase and too all Good Luck!!! See you in the funny papers…. Ms. Girl
