We all loved ‘Weekly Words’ from Forrest Fenn as they were such a special gift of encouragement for The Thrill of the Chase treasure hunt.
The full, now completed, list can be accessed here: Weekly Words from Forrest Fenn. This list was continually updated during the last year and a link to it was posted with each new words given.
When I updated last week’s words to it though, I felt such a strong feeling of sincere gratitude for them all, and for the time Forrest had given to provide them to us. The Thrill of the Chase is such an amazing treasure hunt. One of a kind. Unique. (read about Unique here:chatting with Forrest Fenn: his office)
Obviously, seen from content of my site, I work on other treasure hunts. I love the challenge they give. There are some, like for example the Beale Ciphers or RLC, of which the passing of time has caused difficulties and gaps for learning certain truths about them. Legends have formed around the treasure hunts, and so it is hard to recognize what is fact, and what is fiction.
This isn’t the case with The Thrill of Chase. The best thing I love about Forrest’s Treasure Poem is it is in the Present. The NOW. We are so lucky to have the opportunity to search for an extraordinary treasure while it is young and fresh. Sure there are lots of questions, lots to wonder about, but I’ve never questioned whether there is a hidden 10×10 bronze chest filled with incredible treasures to find ‘somewhere in the Rocky Mountains north of Santa fe’. WOW. So exciting. So fortunate. So thankful for the adventure. Thank you Forrest Fenn.
So then to be able to share these RANDOM words, which will not be weekly words, and it is unknown if others will be forthcoming, fills me with ever more gratitude for The Thrill of the Chase.

I’ve been meaning to ask you, how’s your mouth? Are you finally starting to heal up? I’ve never experienced dry socket but it makes my knees fell all wonky just thinking about it. Hope the “trauma and drama” are about over for ya. 😳😁😄

*If you don’t know where it is, go back to the first clue.f so at 7 years we are to start over which means the clues are continuous, they have become an exercise in futility. Say you take this to mean you don’t even now what the first clue is, what should one do? I would guess go back to the book and look for a hint that will help you with the first clue.

Thanks, Jenny and Forrest. Jenny, I agree with your point about this hunt being in the present. There are other hunts in the present, they are exciting, too. I think that Forrest’s interaction with the hunters, the challenge of finding the treasure location that is hidden in a pome ( not many pages of a puzzle book ), and the size and mystique of the treasure add to its draw.

1st Stanza

Sure you COULD argue, but first line = first clue.
AND we read that the “treasure” IS “in there”.
IF “first clue” = “in there” THEN “go back in there” results
Remove “If you don’t know where it is,” since nobody has the tc yet
Conclusion: Fenn wants someone to go back in there
ALSO, treasure = “right spot” – learned last week
Ω Is this not a strong argument for an Omega at the beginning and end of the poem?
“So the last shall be first, and the first last” (Matthew 20:16)
Perhaps Fenn sees himself as the double loser, the Omega male who has overcome all odds to win the end game.
Bottom Line: We are looking for the Omegas, visually and symbolically at both ends. Ω
Insightful thinking DeCall Thomas. I believe many on this forum will be going back in there come spring/summer. I know I will be.
Anyone can get lucky. But it takes mettle enough to strike the trail, and enough confidence in a maverick to know that the treasure is really “there” for the taking. ; )
I agree. I believe the one who does solve this thing isn’t going to solve it all correctly on the first attempt and probably not the second or third. They will have to have the passion and drive to try again and again and return to where they’ve been to eventually get it all right and reach the ever elusive “right spot.” Maybe that’s what his words mean. Maybe he knows someone among us has come within striking distance. Considering someone was within 200 ft years ago and hasn’t found it I wonder if this person is more aware? Who among us knows where they need to return to?
The words also apply to the rest of us who have searched in the wrong spot and need to go back to the first clue and start over again because we didn’t solve the first clue and therefore can’t move on to the next one. The words in that sense are universally applicable to each and every one of us. Thank you Forrest and Jenny and especially Forrest for the profound words of wisdom.

Someone is at the “blaze” and don’t know where to go from there, I believe you begin it wwwh but after you reach the blaze you are to quickly look down your quest to cease, which means the poem is your quest you want to finish right? So look back to the beginning of the poem while you’re at the blaze and it will be, As I’ve gone alone in there, if you begin it wwwh you’ll have to go back to the beginning of the poem or else the first four sentences mean nothing.

Forrest I have found the resolve needed to be quick and wise, like an owl, brave and in the wood was genius!!! Some people say I sound like I put too much starch in my collar but I’m not as bad as Lil India. She once wrote to me, she said “Hi, it’s me” Maybe it wasn’t needed but I sure felt more centered and healthy.
Thank you Forrest for the one year chase, I thought you would outsmart me for awhile. Last hurdle is getting that title.
I am of the same mind. I’m looking forward to spring and the snow melt but enjoying every moment till then. Thank you Forrest and Jenny! I was sad when there were no words this morning and I lit up when I finally saw it.

I don’t watch a ton of TV but my daughter and I got into this 4-5 episode reality show that came on towards the end of the season after AGT. Some of the jokes they pulled on each other had me rolling. Forrest would have been right at home with the Fenz and friends

Hello Virginia Diane. We know not what the reasons are, but I do not believe it’s as critical as you may believe. His above statement has always been important from the very beginning. The Chase continues and I hope you’ll continue to enjoy it.
Perhaps he choses to be quiet until spring like everyone else. The snow looks great and creates the desire to huddle under the covers until spring. The best part about the wait is knowing that the crocuses will peek out of the snow–in a few months! 🙂 Enjoy the rest of winter to re-engerize for spring and summer.

Hello Virginia Diane. I believe Denver isn’t known as the “Brown Cloud”, but for having an occasional “brown cloud” because of the temperature inversions we get due to the mountains and the dust particles captured by such means.
Those dust particles would be smog pdenver and Denver has always had a problem since I can remember. Brown cloud fits.
Hello oh. Not all are emissions related, but I do concur. The mountains and temperature inversions puts us in such conditions, no matter what is in the air. Been here since 1977 and I’ve seen my share.

If you’re talking about inversions and smog then Salt Lake City is clearly the hands down…(or hands-holding-a-handkerchief-over-the-mouth-and-nose)…”winner”.
It gets really bad here sometimes in the winter months.
I think Denver’s air isn’t quite as bad or as frequent because they’re a couple thousand feet higher…so the air moves a little more.
It’s those larger populations at higher altitude trying to keep warm in the winter.
Perhaps we could each breathe a sigh of relief…or, breathe a little easier that neither of our cities is listed in the top ten:

I worked in Twenty two below reg. temp. last night at 10,000 feet above sea level in CO. The air was so crisp and clear but the clothes I wore didn’t dry all the way in the dryer and I think I froze my left ear. g

I began my quest wwwh, but I don’t believe it’s the first clue, Warm Springs Montana is where I think Forrest is talking about, look this town up. Take Interstate 90 following the Clark Fork River through the canyon down, between the towns Deerlodge and Drummond is known as the home of the Brown for the Brown Trout in that area, look this up in the Montana fish report, below this area is the town Bearmouth, I turned here because it’s the entrance to the Garnet Ghost Town, no place for the meek. This valley is known for the heavy loads of rock left there thousands of years ago by ancient seas, on into this valley next to the road is a sign that says secret gulch and finn gulch, look on Google map you will see. To me this is a marker ( maybe the blaze ) this is where I am stuck, I looked down my quest to cease to the beginning of the poem which brings me back to As I’ve gone alone in there. I don’t need anyone to tell me I’m in the wrong place because it probably is, just need someone ( sense it’s winter and cold outside ) to just take the time to look and give some options. I’ll take good or bad, think you

Astree, it seems so. But it’s hard to tell if any were put aside, if Forrest had another set of things to post over time that he knew would make up the difference (and add up to a year between them).

Weekly words are over. Whew. Now just a few months… in other news… for Christmas I got the book “too far to walk”. Great stories in it. They are so personal they pull you right into them. The major clue is a good one, everyone has a chance to see it if they look, all IMHO of course. **Question for all- what was your favorite chapter in TFTW? Mine was regarding his art collecting friends who took a painting with them to a show and the plane ended up crashing…my heart sank and I could almost feel the sorrow Mr. Fenn must’ve felt at that time. Total strangers but for a moment, I mourned their passing as well… amazing how a story can bring strangers together like that. But on another, more positive note… I also received an Indiana Jones Temple of Doom hat! I have promised my mother to wear it when I go to search this spring. If I locate indulgence this time it will be my lucky treasure hunting hat when I make this “hobby” my full time passion someday… what can be better than spending your days searching for lost history?? In the forest the Bloodroot blooms first followed by Dutchman’s Breeches and then May Apple. The forest unlike people can be relied upon. The May Apple never says This year I shall be first!

Just some random thoughts —
One treasurer hunter had a theory that “asi” (which is “so” in Spanish) was the key word. However, if you break up the sentence beginning with “As I have” into “A si have”. You can get to the word “si”. “Si” is “yes” in Spanish.
Now do me a favor. Say “Y” don’t pronounce “Y” but say “Y” and then say “es” and then do faster and faster. You will hear the word “Wise” appear.
Now, In TTOTC, Fenn has a Chapter YS , which can also be pronounced as Wise (under same method above) —
Now look:
YS = Yellowstone
Si = Yes = YS = Yellowstone
Wise = YS = Yellowstone
Why is = YS = Yellowstone (YS is “it”)
