Last week (10/23-24/26) at the Ghosts of Colorado Springs event over $5000! was raised for Maverick Mountain (which was affected by the Montana wildfires). THWU, Maxx/KK (Black8Escape), and BruceOnTheGround hosted an incredible gathering!
Besides the generous donations happening, Justin Posey also took time out from LayerVai winning the Cyber Innovation Conference people’s choice award to answer a few questions. Here are a few highlights from those Q/A’s. Some very interesting answers!
Congrats to Justin and LayerVai! Winner of the Cyber Innovation Conference People’s Choice Award!
At the Colorado Springs Q/A – another question was pulled from those there for MW’s October’s Featured Question. We (THWU/Maxx/BOTG/MW) also threw in a bonus question – one which many searchers were hopeful would be pulled.
Here are those questions – along with one that Justin would answer. Ha! (remember, though, a non-answer sometimes is an answer – so lots to think about!!)
(NOTE: For those unfamiliar – At the end of each month a featured question with Justin Posey is shared (Past FQ/A’s here) (If you have a question you’d like to ask (NON-CLUE related) you can message me/comment either on the MW discord, Forum, or Facebook)
October Featured Questions with Justin – 2 Punts and 1 Answer
Questions from Ghosts of Colorado Springs Event:
- Q) When you reference “the Hole” in your poem, should we be thinking of it in the context of a river or valley, where the landscape itself might help reveal its meaning?
- Q) Is the image drawn on your truck window in the documentary that looks similar to 3 peaks a natural formation that we will encounter in our journey? If not, is there anything you would be willing to share regarding it?
Justin Answers: Thank you, Jenny. For these two questions, I’d have to punt on both of them. Sorry!
Question from Featured Questions list:
- Q) What was your single biggest mistake or regret when you were the hunter rather than the creator? ~ BTMEfan
A) My biggest mistake was the simplest possible one.
Forrest told us, plainly, that the chest was somewhere an eighty-year-old man could walk from his car. That he’d done it in an afternoon. He wasn’t being coy. He wasn’t misdirecting. He was a man who’d survived cancer and had presumably exhausted his interest in wasting time.
I knew he was right. That was the problem.
I’d find the simple solution, feel good about it for a few months, and then convince myself that the real answer — the one that rewarded a person of genuine intellectual “sophistication” — was somewhere considerably more dramatic. Somewhere that justified the drive. The gear.
Back and forth. Simple, complex, simple, complex. A decade of that.
Every time I landed on complicated, I knew, somewhere quiet in the back of my head, that I’d lost the thread. Forrest was practically begging us to keep it simple.
I just couldn’t leave it alone.
