Beth Hovanec of The Art of Hidden Messages is one of the hosts for The Masquerade Tribute. She was first introduced to armchair treasure hunts with ‘A Treasure’s Trove’ in 2004. For over 15 years now, she has been participating in, and winning, many treasure hunts under her screen name, Genetic Blend.
She graduated with a BA, and honors, in both Studio Arts (painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking) and Fine Arts (Art History), but since that wouldn’t pay the bills she went back to college and obtained a Bachelor of Science in a completely different field. Now she is semiretired, which gives her a lot more time to work on her art.
She decided to merge her love for the treasure hunts, with her love and talent for art, and make her own treasure hunts. Under the name of ‘The Art of Hidden Messages’ she has released several small-scale hunts. ‘Synchronicity’, ‘The Secret Red Herrings’, ‘The Scarlet Women’, ‘ Light House’, and ‘A Famous Grandson’ are only a few of the hunts she has released. Most of the hunts are free, but some do require a minimal fee. Beth provides all of the prizes out of pocket and often gives the art away as part of the prize.
She also runs a website called The Art of Hidden Treasures where she simply fills a tiny treasure chest with themed items, hides it somewhere outdoors, posts simple clues, and whoever gets there first can have the treasures.
As you can tell she has lots of experience in armchair treasure hunting and many are excited for not only her hunt in The Masquerade Tribute, but them all! Here is a sneak peek of her hunt and treasures!
The launch of The First Annual Masquerade Tribute is scheduled for the Spring Equinox, 3/20/21. Nine different Treasure Hunts with Nine different Treasures to claim, valued at over $3,000 total, are part of this incredible Tribute. All proceeds go to three great Charities.
