The Virginia Buried Cache of H Charles Beil is said to contain over hundreds of carats of Pearls and over 1000 old coins. It was buried in the spring of 2014, and has never been claimed to be found. Might it still be there waiting for you?

Jason and Bridget Griffin thought they would take up the challenge to look for it: just one of the H. Charles Beil/ Treasure Man hidden Caches! If they found it great, if not, the trip was worth the adventure. Better than sitting at home!  Enjoy!

Six Questions with Jason and Bridget:

  • 1Q) What Treasure were you searching for?

H Charles Beil’s Virginia Cache

  • 2Q) What inspired you to search for that treasure?

My wife and I have been searching for armchair treasure hunts for years, beginning with Byron’s “The Secret,” and have been hooked on the adventure and reason to travel ever since. Once “The Secret” episode of Expedition Unknown aired we moved on to other hunts, it was just too popular.

Interestingly I made a video about “The Secret” I think a year or more before that episode aired.

  • 3Q) What did you enjoy most about your search?

With things just beginning to open up I had to get my wife away from work for a bit. We usually take a trip this time of year so I thought the Otter Creek hunt would be perfect as there wouldn’t be a mass gathering of people there. So just the trip out and about was the best part. Natural Bridge is amazing as well!

  • 4Q) What did you enjoy least about your search?

The Creek was a little high, other than that it was a perfect trip.

  • 5Q) What is the most unique thing you found while searching?

The trail is on Park land and you aren’t supposed to leave the trail. So without leaving the trail we found several old homestead ruins in the area.

  • 6Q) Do you plan on looking for others, have any advice for someone else looking for H Charles Beil’s treasures, or is there something more you would like to say?

I’m sure we will keep searching, Gallows Harbor hunt looks interesting! (Gallows Harbor Facebook Group)

I would like to share with other searchers a clue my wife discovered while hunting. In the video clue for H’s Virginia Cache there is a part where H talks while filming the half buried Cache. While speaking there is a static type sound being picked up by the microphone. While I had watched the video many times trying to discover clues I missed that the sound was distinct. The sound is the Otter Creek Falls. We played the video while a little distance from the falls and it is the falls, while you can never be sure without treasure in hand, it is the falls. We searched the area hard but with no luck. We couldn’t find another area that matches the sound like the falls. The rest of the clues in the video are still there pointing to Otter Creek/ James River Trail, the old closed restaurant and sign to the right, the James River gravel overlook with strange rock formations, and the White Oak and pine trees aren’t everywhere which should help. I wish any searchers luck!

I sent a message to Charles to see if he would confirm clues provided other than the video as I’m not sure it wasn’t H providing all the extra clues on forums but no luck there either. Really miss the treasure illustrated forums haha. A treasure hunt is pretty hard if you don’t have any clues, real hard if false clues muddy things. As always though it’s fun to search.
