Ozark Adventure treasure hunt by Rodney Crewse launches October 1, 2026 – pre registration going on now (which if you are one of the first 50 registrants – you will receive two additional clues to the treasure location)!
This hunt is a fully armchair treasure hunt with a $3,000 cash treasure up for grabs. No BOTG required. Just your curiosity, determination, and clues to solve. This is exciting! Six Questions with Rodney:
- 1Q) You’ve been part of the treasure-hunting community for years (working on the Forrest Fenn hunt) but now you’re stepping into the creator role. What made you decide it was time to create a hunt of your own?
We have done some smaller hunts locally in the past. I love the excitement and challenge it gives to the hunters and myself.
- 2Q) Please share how searchers can get involved in Ozark Adventure? Also, the hunt is fully armchair, meaning searchers can solve it and claim the treasure without ever heading out into the field. Why was that important to you or what did it allow you to do with this hunt that might have been different with a BOTG hunt?
Searchers can get involved by simply signing up at on our ministry website www.firedesiretv.org. They can also get involved by sharing this hunt with others; especially with those who may not be physically able to go BOTG.
This was important to me since I know of many people who love challenges and adventures but just can’t physically go out and do it. This also allowed me to reach out to those who cannot financially afford to take the trips that if often requires to do BOTG treasure hunts.
- 3Q) How accessible is the hunt to someone new to treasure hunting? Does it require a lot of prior experience with codes and ciphers?
No codes or ciphers. Prior experience can be helpful but is not necessary. I am a little worried about the seasoned treasure hunters finding the location too quickly. Doing this type of hunt can be challenging for the organizer simply because of the use with AI these days.
- 4Q) You’ve experienced what makes a hunt exciting and what can make a search frustrating. Did those experiences influence how you designed your own hunt?
Absolutely! I have been on the frustrating side many times. But the challenge of the hunt still excites me. So, I did consider these things when designing this hunt.
- 5Q) Without giving anything away, what can you tell searchers about the experience you’ve created? Is there something you particularly hope they notice, discover, or enjoy along the way?
Even though there will be no BOTG; I hope to captivate them in the challenge. I am sure the person who wins this hunt will have gained some really good and enjoyable information about the Ozarks. It may even cause them to want to visit the Ozarks one day.
- 6Q) What do you enjoy most about being part of the treasure hunting community? And now that you’re a creator, do you still find time to be a searcher? Are you working on any treasure hunts currently going on? Are you planning on creating other hunts?
Most of the treasure hunting community act as a team, even though you have the few that seem to be grumpy all the time. I love seeing how the community rejoices with the success of others. I am currently working on trying to find JCB’s Lion’s Share Box, I have made 8 trips. I hope and pray that the treasure hunt that I have created is a success; if it is, I would like to do another armchair treasure hunt in late winter in another area of the country.
