In 1996 the Roosevelt Dime was minted and marked from West Point.  While other circulating coins had been struck at West Point before this, the Dime was the first to receive the W Mint Mark to distinguish it as a coin coming from the West Point Mint.  This Dime was included as a bonus coin in uncirculated coin sets purchased from the US Mint. They were created to celebrate the Dime’s 50th anniversary (first minted in 1946).  They are worth more, sometimes LOTS more, than 10 cents. It depends on condition and if you find one, you should check it’s value.

This inclusion in coin sets is how the W Lincoln Cent and W Jefferson Nickel has been released.

In 2019 a Lincoln Cent bearing the W mint mark was included in Coin Sets purchased directly from the US Mint.  They came in 3 different finishes.

Then in 2020 a Jefferson Nickel bearing the W mint mark was included in Coin Sets from the Mint.  Again, in various finishes.

The West Pont Mint is known for striking many coins, mostly commemorative, but the last few years it has be striking coins that have gone into circulation- and that include the W mint mark.

In 2019 and 2020, 2 million of each of the five America the Beautiful Quarters were struck from the West Point Mint.  They were randomly placed into circulation.

According to coinworld, there will no W quarters struck in 2021.  The American the Beautiful Quarter series ends this year.

It had been speculated the 2021 coin sets would include another ‘bonus W minted coin’ (thought to be the dime or half dollar), but as of today, they are not listed with orders of 2021 proof sets, where the W minted Cent of 2019 and Nickel of 2020 were obtained.

The bonus W minted coins are worth more than the face value of the coin.  Condition is a factor, and prices vary.

They are collectible, so check your pocket change….. if you see a W, it will probably be more valuable than what the coin says it is worth….…… The circulating Quarters minted from West Point might go for around $20 dollars or MORE (depending on condition), Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, and Roosevelt Dime might be $10 or UP… sometime maybe a lot UP (or down)……Depending on Condition. Condition… condition…..it matters….!

Be sure to investigate a W mint mark coin before spending it at its face value.
