The Art of Hidden Messages releases armchair treasure hunts all throughout the year. These are meant to be solved in a relatively short time. They provide challenging fun for those who take up the treasure hunt adventures, and offer unique prizes!
Some of TAOHM hunts are fully armchair, meaning the clues and treasures can all be solved and claimed from home; Others are Boots on the Ground, meaning a hidden treasure must be physically searched for at a location given by following the clues of the hunt.
The Wizard of Oz Treasure Hunt of TAOHM, was fully armchair. It was released in 2019 and solved a few weeks after release. Within this hunt were multiple puzzles that needed to be solved. One of which was noticed to be on the daisies of the image.
If you looked closely at their petals, dots and dashes, could be seen. This led to using Morse Code. The message was hidden in plain sight.
Let’s look at the Daisies:
Applying Morse Code to the dots and dashes, the words were: Look, Listen, Good
It’s a pretty straightforward decoding, and most would have recognized the dots and dashes to be Morse Code (especially if you are a subscriber to MW’s Codes and Ciphers Series and MW Forum).
So a deeper clue or meaning seems involved. The puzzle would be to question- what do the words mean? How can they be applied to the puzzle?
In the Solution PDF, TAOHM stated that those words told you exactly what you needed to do to solve the puzzle. You had to Look and Listen Good. That is what they meant. And this could have been deduced by further clues of the puzzle. So sometimes, solutions to smaller puzzles hint to bigger things…… something to keep in mind!
