Attention The Thrill of the Chase Searchers!
Guess what?! There will be Gold in them there hills! The Appalachian Mountains that is!
Dal and Jenny (HoD and MW) are teaming up to create Forrest Fenn Gold Medallions to hide in the Appalachian Mountains. Remember the MW Q/A with the Little Girl from India? Forrest had answered that he wished he had another treasure to hide in the Appalachians.
Well the next best thing will be hidden in them there hills: Forrest Fenn Gold Medallions. (Approved by Forrest)
However, there may be a few others scattered in other places, to keep you thinking. Clues will be given for YOU to find them. More on this later.
But first we will need YOUR help to design the Gold Plated- Forrest Fenn Gold Medallions!
Full contest details coming in November. But start thinking now about what you might suggest the design to be.
A final design will be chosen and then approved by Forrest himself. The winner of the design contest will receive one of these very special Gold Medallions honoring The Thrill of the Chase and Forrest Fenn.
Stay tuned on MW or HoD (MysteriousWritings.com or Dalneitzel.com) for more information in the coming weeks! Sign up to the MW Newsletter for updates and other MW News.
This is going to be absolutely AWESOME! Silver in the Rockies and Gold in the Appalachians! And a mix in between and beyond!

Best of luck with all that you seek! Always Treasure the Adventure!
Thanks for the news Jenny!
Oh boy! That’s exciting news! I better get my pencil moving on my sketch pad soon! I’ll give it my best shot! …thinking.
Coolest idea ever.
And I already have the basis for my entry in mind. Just need some words to go with the images.
I like these words, “super Horruit venatione”
Closest I could get to “chase”.
Of course, if someone found one of the medallions, “Veni vidi vici” might be more fitting. When I took Latin back in high school we had to pronounce the V’s as W’s which still feels weird to me.
Love this!
How is your stepdad doing?
One day at a time Idle. One day at a time.
Thanks asking.
I want to thank you all for your enthusiasm and support for this exciting project. The clues for the Gold Medallions will be freely posted on Dal’s and My site, and it is your choice whether you want to search for them or not. We are creating the hunts to bring together and inspire the community (from coast to coast and beyond). PLUS –it is what MW does……over the last few years, MW has given thousands of dollars away via the MW Philosopher’s Stones hunts, The Ring of Old treasure hunt, The Sacred Scarab hunt, GiveAways, the Tap4Treasure hunts, and other prizes of games.
Like just today we gave away an Old Coin from the Admiral Gardner which was shipwrecked in 1809–with the fun card game of LOOT! It is a beautiful coin/treasure! (and fun game :))
I was planning to launch MW Treasure Medallion hunts in November which I announced in the MW Newsletter a few weeks ago. Some of them are/were to be hidden in the Appalachians. But these hunts have been postponed to create the Forrest Fenn Gold Medallion Hunts with Dal. However, don’t forget, there is still the MW Forgotten Word treasure hunt in the my book to solve. That is worth $500 cash to the first person who solves it.
As some of you may know, the MW website was inspired from my treasure hunting endeavors since 2004/5. The Forrest Fenn Treasure Hunt, and all that it is, is a natural extension, but only part of what MW is all about.
I love the chase… all chases… always have and always will…..
Plus I love serving and inspiring the treasure hunting community….
More details on the hunts will be forthcoming…. the design contest for the FFGM starts later in November…
LET’S MAKE THE BEAUTIFUL!
Thanks again all!
Thanks Jenny! Looking forward to it
someday those medallions will be worth a lot of bread
best of luck to all searchers out east!
and down south, out west and up north too 🙂
dumbfounded
A valid reason to travel East. Oh no…
Thanks Jenny and Dal,
Always going for the gold and you two set the standard. Now it’s all about the design.
This is a nice idea and I hope many will go out searching. I love the Appalachian and Catskill mountains in the Fall. The colors are brilliant. Loved walking through the think blanket of leaves.
