Looking at the page content, it’s fairly clear that the two lands of red, white and blue are the United Kingdom and the United States. Why are the linked “like the key”? Not sure, but a thought is that it might have something to do with the geographical angle between them. Of course, countries stretch quite a bit in the East-West direction, especially the United States. But if we look at the capital, Washington D.C. is on longitude 77 degrees West.
