forrest fenn gold medallion
Front and Back of the Forrest Fenn Gold Medallion (GOLD FINISH)

The Forrest Fenn Gold Medallion Treasure Hunts were inspired by a MW question and answer where Forrest said,

“I wish I had another treasure to hide in the Appalachians.” f

MW and HoD (MysteriousWritings and Home of Dal (Neitzel)) were happy to make that a reality!  Our websites teamed up and hid treasure in the Appalachians for searchers of the Chase to find in the off season.  Here is a link including the FFGM puzzles and winners of that first series.  Searchers had an awesome time and we loved hosting the hunts!

Series Two is a continuation of these adventures! However, Series Two is fully armchair. Meaning there isn’t a need to physically go BOTG to claim a Medallion. Everyone can get involved! Each month, from January thru May, One Treasure Hunt puzzle is released on the 3rd. A random winner will be drawn from all correct entries to receive the Exclusive Medallion for that month.

Get ready for MORE fun times!

Even though SERIES TWO FFGM Treasure Hunts have now ended, more to come! Stay tuned:

Puzzle #2: SOLVED! Congrats to Stephen P.!

The Puzzle:

The Solution: The verse hints the name of the place can be discovered by moving through 4 (number of lines). The link given on the puzzle pageshared how a Caesar Shift worked. If you moved through/shifted the bottom line of letters by 4 you would get “The Dragon’s Tooth on Cove Mountain” (P>T, D>H, A>E….and so on) This place is in Virginia. Virginia was the answer to the question on the submission form that a player submitted. Congrats to Stephen P. who won the drawing from all correct submissions! Thanks all for playing! Puzzle #3 is next!

Puzzle #1: SOLVED! Congrats to Michael W. !

The Solution to Puzzle #1

Congrats to Michael W! He was the winner of the drawing from all correct submissions (and bonus entries) for FFGM S2P1 which was released on 1/3/20. The answer was Porter Springs. Solving the puzzle revealed TRAHLYTA. A simple google search of Trahlyta Grave provided information to confirm a match of the meaning of the poem lines with her. The Question on the Submission Form asked: On the Historical Marker of her location, what is the name of the Springs thought to be magic? – which was Porter Springs.

A link was given with the puzzle to guide searchers on how to use the number code to reveal the answer, if it was needed. It was: https://mysteriouswritings.com/mw-codes-ciphers-and-puzzle-series-the-ottendorf-cipher/

Thank you all for participating! We had around 400 entries! And there is lots more to come!

The locations to the puzzles of Series Two FFGM Treasure Hunts will still relate to the Appalachian Valley, like the Series One Treasure Hunts did. This is because the hunts were inspired by the MW Q/A where Forrest answered: “I wish I had another treasure to hide in the Appalachians.” f
