There are many curious phrases which can be found written on the parchments from the Maranatha- Et in Arcadia Ego puzzle. The following is only one such phrase and may possibly be decoded by use of a phonetic play of letters. This in turn may imply the ancient symbol of the Triquetra.
The phrase, “The Third Chapter shows” and “the three R &C’s together” appears on only one of the two different parchments which were produced by the Maranatha authors. The other parchment had, in place of the previous words; “Pigpen Masonic Tools” and “As above, so Below”. Both of the parchments displayed these phrases under the popular freemasonry symbol of the Square and Compass.
It was mentioned in The Differences and Enigmas of the Maranatha Parchments that the wording of the large central paragraph was different for each. This section introduced and described the hunt. And although they basically shared the same concept, each contained their own questionable sentences or alluded to particular methods.
The parchment which held the words ‘The Third Chapter shows the three R&C’s together’ included a sentence not found within the other. That sentence was “Whether it is a curious spelling, a phonetic play on words, or of pages numbered with alternate value.” Later in the paragraph, the use of ‘Sight’ and ‘Site’ is seen, providing an example of a phonetic word play.
Another example of ‘phonetic play’ could be applied to the letters on the parchment of ‘R&C’s’. The sounding out of letters, which is known to reveal hidden meanings, was briefly referred to in the article of The Mysterious Language of the Birds. The example given in that post was one used in the book, The Accursed Treasure of Rennes le Chateau by Gerard de Sede. It shared that the word ‘Cayrolo’, by phonetic play, hinted towards; Key, Ear, and Hole.
Applying this same method, the sounding out of the R with the hard sound of C (as in CAT), the word ARC is heard and could, therefore, be implied. Notice it is not the ‘three R’s and C’s, only a singular R & C’s which could suggest the word ‘ARCS’. This possible decoding method would provide an alternative sentence and meaning to the before mentioned phrase. It could be read as, ‘The Third Chapter shows the three ARCS together.’
The Triquetra is a shape formed by three arcs. It is an ancient symbol which represents the union of three things. In Christianity it represents the Holy Trinity or union of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In other systems it can be seen to symbolize other groups of three; like, Earth, Air, and Water or Death, Life, and Rebirth or Mind, Body, and Soul.
Triquetra (from Latin for three cornered), originally referred to a Triangle. Today, the name often imparts the image of three entwining arcs formed together into one figure. By the continuous and indivisible arcs, this sacred geometry can also express Eternity.
I don’t think this shape is part of the process. I think the third circle is found in the middle of the intersection of the other two.
