There’s Treasure Inside Clues – what has been found to date (and shared publicly)?

There's Treasure Inside FAQ's

On the MW Discord and other discussion channels (Reddit, FB, Forums, etc), searchers are sharing and discussing possible clues, anomalies, and items of interest.

Although nothing can be confirmed until a Treasure Box is found, there are some interesting clues and theories being put forth. The followings items seem like definite clues – (or intentional red herrings).

This page for There’s Treasure Inside clues will be updated as more is found (or links added to those discoveries).

The Appalachian Footpath Box Clues

Appalachian Footpath Box

The chapter for The Appalachian Footpath box includes two pages of text and a map. It is believed all clues necessary to discover the location of the treasure are within these pages. The last lines in the text read:

“And since I’ve basically admitted to you that this treasure is somewhere along the Appalachian trail, all that’s left for you to do is follow this map. Have fun my friend. Your treasure awaits.”

The trail on the map in the book has been found to exactly match a trail in the Green Mountains in Vermont. One which includes Little Rock Pond.

There are many details on the map, which may need a magnifying glass to see. Searchers are using these additional items to try and pinpoint a more defined location. Although Jon has said do not search in the snow, searchers – who are well prepared and experienced – have done so. To date, the box has not been announced found.

The Past and Future Box Clues

Clues for the Past and Future box are being found. However, they lead to different areas of the United States. It is difficult to know what is an actual clue, and what is a red herring.

The chapter includes 5 pages (and a chapter face page of the box – shown below).

The text includes a bit of history on Bitcoin, and on the book of Ready Player One. It mentions games: Pac-Man, Adventure, Zork, and Dungeons and Dragons. The Movies WarGames and Monty Python and The Holy Grail are named.

The chapter includes a Word Search and Cryptogram. The cryptogram has been solved. (more information and possible clues found in the PF Cryptogram).

The Word Search has been found to include a hidden message, a possible map, and potential cipher. (more information on the possible clues found in the Word Search)

Locations suggested for this box have been in the areas of Ohio, Lake Tahoe, North Carolina/South Carolina, Idaho, Oregon, and others.

I shared advice JCB (Jon Collins-Black) gave about confirmation bias and how to deal with it. It seems that advice will need to be followed for this box – until at least some more definitive clues, leading to one potential area, are found.

The Pokémon Box Clues

Pokemon treasure box

The Pokémon Treasure box chapter is 9 pages long. It is the longest of all the 4 smaller box chapters.

Jon begins the chapter talking about a trip his family took when he was 5 and [a] half years old. From these memories he includes a fictional story about different Pokémon at the end. In the text it reads:

“Because of all the precious memories I had of my road trip to Houston, I decided it would be fitting to leave a treasure box not far from some place I had visited along that journey. Since it had been such a long time ago, I figured it might be a fair bit of work. So, I decided to go in search of a Pokémon who might be capable of assisting me on my trip…..

At the end of the story is an image – which Jon mentions was taken near the end of the day, and overexposed. It is of a ‘bluff’. So is the whole story a ‘bluff’?

It’s noted that many of the phrases in the chapter’s story relate to trails around Hemmed In Hollow of the Buffalo River Valley in the Ozarks, Arkansas.

The Forrest Fenn Box Clues

Forrest Fenn Treasure Box

Two major anomalies found in the Chapter for the FF Box, which is 7 pages long, have been revealed NOT TO BE CLUES. These are typos:

  • Page 205 (first edition books) is Santa Fe, AZ – in the eBook release this is corrected to Santa Fe, NM
  • Page 210 (first edition books) is HERE in the poem – in the eBook release this is corrected to HEAR

Also, in the eBook release the description specifically says the treasure is in the Rocky Mountains. It has:

“Read this book to find the clues to decipher where in the Rocky Mountains this treasure resides”

The Lion’s Share Box Clues

Lion's Share treasure box

The Lion’s Share box holds the most value and amount of treasure. Clues for this box are found scattered throughout the entire book.

Various anomalies found are believed to be clues.

  • Chapter 9: No page 90
  • Chapter 13: Reference to page number wrong

Although there have been typos identified it is unclear if they are clues or merely mistakes. JCB has confirmed the two typos in the First Edition Contents are just that: Typos. The G in Tuyget, and the spelling of Broach/Brooch, to possibly hint to GA/Georgia is NOT a clue.

Other typos were corrected in the Digital Version of There’s Treasure Inside. (more on that here)

As more becomes found this page will be updated.
