Six Questions with Elle
Q1)When did you hear and learn about the Treasure hunt?
I nearly missed Fenn’s Folly in the spring of 2015. I was passing through the house to till the garden. I was stopped, mid stride at three quarters swing of the back door, by a most unique voice. I stepped back into the house to glance at the man speaking. It’s been an epic love story and journey ever since.
Q2)What inspired you to become involved and begin searching?
I had mulled his story over for a year and did some research. I ordered TTOTC and TFTW in February 2016.
Inspired? It was an instant obsession after reading the books. I realized I’d been given a Golden Ticket. Here was anyone’s chance to change their stars. A level playing field. There was no more time to waste!! I needed to get in the Chase. I fashioned a 10x10x5 box, found a backpack to accommodate it, threw in 40 lbs of weight and started trekking around the yard. I was going to be ready should the ‘finding’ day arrive.
Q3)What is your most favorite part about the treasure hunt so far?
That’s hard to pinpoint. There are so many different aspects involved in the Chase. That’s like asking if the peanut butter is better than the jelly or vice versa. Overall, I think getting into the countryside is my favorite. I get to test my wintered-over solutions and see some pretty amazing scenery. There’s nothing like a breath of fresh pine waffling through your nose!
Q4) What is your least favorite part about the treasure hunt so far?
Learning patience beyond patience. Even though I journey in my mind daily, there exists a physical challenge and a linear timeline that must be reckoned with. When you get to the end of your impatience you find a new path to assuage it. Also, I think about the end of the Chase these days. There will come a time where I have square off with the end but until then, the Chase is in full swing!!
Q5)What is the best or most unique thing you found while searching for Forrest Fenn’s treasure chest?
I have found and done many interesting things on my journeys. Chatted with a dragonfly, fed a chipmunk and found a hidden cave, but mostly discovered an inner peace that is indescribable in any other setting. Of course, the tangible trophies end up on a mantle or a shelf for all to enjoy.
Q6)Is there anything else you would you like to say?
An enormous thanks to Forrest, for all of the impeccable reasons. And to you, Jenny, for providing an outlet for the Chasers where we can look at other things to find a fresh viewpoint and enjoy a reprieve from our diligent hunting.
Thanks Elle! Love the peanut butter and jelly comparison. So true. You sound like you are truly enjoying the Chase! I love these stories from searchers, and I appreciate you sharing yours– and all who have so far. They offer such inspiration and encouragement to others for ‘chasing their dreams’. (whatever they may be)
Best of luck to all that you seek! Treasure the Adventure!
This is it.
Thanks Elle, I liked your answers…. I really liked your answer to Q)4…”Learning patience beyond patience” … that is so true in the chase. Have a great day and thank you Elle…… until next time.. see ya
Great answers! Sounds like you’ve come a long way since Feb 2016—good luck on your chase in 2018!

Enjoyed your answers Elle, thank you!
Thanks Elle, loved your enthusiasm. Makes me wish Jenny would ask six more. The thought of fresh pine waffling through your sentences was a welcome reminder of what’s to come.
So true, Strawshadow.
And thank You, Elle, for your beautiful answers. I can tell you’re a serious searcher…perhaps one that Forrest is talking about with his gut feeling.
I also Love the smell of fresh pine waffling through the air…
…almost as much as whitewater wafting…or hunting wabbits.

Just kidding. I would never bwast witto bunny wabbits.
I apologize. I must be on one today…or channeling Elmer Fudd. 🙂
Thank You, Jenny and Elle.

Hello, Strawshadow.
Beats cryin’…3 to 1.
It was interesting reading. It brings back memory of the discussion of the “elle”s in previous posts several months ago.
Strawshadow and JC1117, you both give me plenty of giggles and I thank you. 🙂
Patience leading to new paths. Hear, hear!
Thanks for sharing Elle—-great answers!
I’m beginning to notice that everything is not always as it appears to be. Valuable insights Elle.
Thanks, Elle. Patience is a virtue, as the the saying goes.
Elle => she
I ilke the phrase “patience beyond patience”. It’s new to me. But this I understand … finding the treasure will take the tenacity of a bulldog and the resolve of a rhino. And that’s just the armchair part of the hunt. My opinion.
Patience is a fickle wench, just when you think u have a hold in her she tests your resolve just a little more. The only way to beat her is to test her even more. She’s like the beautiful girl in school that every red blooded boy wants for a girl friend and she takes no notice of you until she notices you have no interest in her.
He sure is.
What the….what?
