The Legacy of Chasing Forrest Fenn’s Treasure
The Facebook Group, which MW here helped managed, Chasing Forrest Fenn’s Treasure, has changed its name to The Legacy of Chasing Forrest Fenn’s Treasure. So many of our lives have been touched by Forrest Fenn’s Chase over the years, and we know there isn’t another hunt like it! It was the treasure hunt of a lifetime.
So the question is ‘What can we do?’ ‘What would Forrest appreciate?’
Sure we can continue to talk POSITIVELY about Chase. But there is more we can do as a community to show Forrest our appreciation of the Chase!
Kevin and I didn’t just want to ‘move onto other hunts’ (which we can do that too via this page), but Fenn’s Treasure Hunt really can’t be replaced as we knew it. So we wanted to shift some of the focus of this incredible community to give back in honor of Forrest for the opportunity he gave us all!
We wanted to create The Legacy of Chasing Forrest Fenn’s Treasure- which is what the Group is called now.
Over the years, chatting with Forrest, there is one thing above all else that stood out to me, Kevin, and I’m sure so many others. He wanted to encourage the ‘Chase’ and give smiles.
We as a community can still do that! We can ‘hide items’ to ‘give smiles’ for The Chase Legacy.
In Forrest Fenn’s Scrapbook 213, when Forrest was talking about hiding leaves in books for ‘Some smiling face to find it in the far-distant future’, he says:
“You should do that too. It’s a way to leave your mark on history and someday cause a smile. Please don’t underestimate your importance. What fun it would be to find an old book with a leaf that George Washington had signed.”
But we can do even more than that. Forrest has certainly exercised our imaginations! What fun it would be for others to find things today! And cause a smile not only in years to come, but in the present time, tomorrow, next week, any day!
Might we paint a rock with inspiring quote? Might we hide a ‘mini treasure chest with some tiny treasures inside?’ Might we place a dollar bill inside a library book?’
The finder of these hidden items are sure to smile! And if somewhere on your ‘hidden’ item you place #TheChaseLegacy.com, we can honor and give back to the Chase and Forrest. We can create TheChaseLegacy!
To launch The Chase Legacy we are holding a drawing from all those who ‘Hide a Treasure’ to ‘Give a Smile’ and posts a picture of it on this page with #TheChaseLegacy.com. (in a period of time). It must have the #. More coming soon….. but there is a very special prize, made by Forrest himself, for a drawing, from all those who ‘hide a treasure’ (remember simple things hidden for others to find and give a smile with #thechaselegacy.com)….
