How to Get Started in The Great US Treasure Hunt?

To get started on the hunt you need to read the book – which is available for purchase on the hunt’s website.

Clues to the 10 different treasures are in the book. Each is on a two-page spread. Text and Image. Either one or both hold the clues to solve for the location of that puzzle.

Correctly solve all clues to the location and retrieve the proxy to claim the $1,000 cash.

The cash prize can be split. For example, $500 for the FIRST sent in correct solution via email, and $500 for the retrieved proxy/finder.  If you do both, you get both.

Where are the Treasures Hidden in The Great US Treasure Hunt?

The treasure cash prize itself is not hidden. A proxy coin, with a unique serial number is hidden, not buried.

Of the 10 different treasure locations – all in the US States – 5 are East of the Mississippi and 5 are West of the Mississippi.

  • 1 is in either Alaska or Hawaii
  • 2 border the Pacific, Atlantic, Gulf States, and Great Lakes
  • Only one in any state.

What are the Clues? Can anyone solve them?

The clues ae not claimed to be advanced ciphers or codes. They are more basic level.

On TGUSTH YouTube channel are some examples of basic ciphers or codes that might be in it or offer the types of others which may be.

Going over Previous Solutions to Past Hunts of TGUSTH’s may offer an idea on what the clues might be like too.

Are there any Tips or Tricks given about The Great US Treasure Hunt?

Yes! In a Six Questions with one of the creators (Dave Steele) he offered this advice:

As to the solving of the puzzles themselves, they are generally going to be two-page spreads, with text or numbers or symbols on the left page and illustrations on the right page. Sometimes you’ll use only the left page, sometimes the right, and sometimes you’ll have to use them both. There might be clues on the left side as to how to solve the puzzle on the right side, or vice versa.

Because there are ten puzzles, I’d say look through all ten first, to get a feel for the different vibes of each puzzle. Then start with the one that you connect with the most. Are you a word person? Start with a wordier puzzle. And the same if you’re more of a numbers person. We think there’s something for everyone. Most of all, have fun.
