Lady Liberty’s Treasure Hunt Items: Question and Answers

QUESTION: Please share more about those items central to the image of the cache – are they telescopes? or what?  What is the history of those items?

MICHAEL’s ANSWER: That’s a really nice treasure he found there with his son in or near Gettysburg PA where General Lee’s CS Army of Northern Virginia fought General Meade’s Union Army of the Potomac July 1 – 3, 1863.  Sadly there were over 50,000 casualties and some of their ghosts remain.

Those telescopes are an original US Civil War Cavalry telescopes carried by both sides.  The other is a copy of a British Navy telescope pirates  and privateers used.  After all, a pirate  hid that the treasure…

My treasure hunts are really fun, educational and patriotic for youth under 18 and their adults!

QUESTION: In the previous cache found was a bell by Eric Sloane.  What an interesting item.  What is the significance of this item? And are there other items like this in caches yet to find?

MICHAEL’S ANSWER: That’s a historic bell piece.  I found it on eBay in France. I never saw one like it before.  I instantly fell in love with it, and bought while I was vacationing at Hilton Head Island South Carolina with my family!  I love walking that beach holding my beautiful wife Laurel’s hand.  She is the best!

The Bell was a tribute to Forrest Fenn and Eric Sloane’s close friendship.  There is a Sloane Bell at the Eric Sloane Museum in Kent, CT where he is buried.  I was there before I hid my treasure near the Housatonic River.  The Road to Taos, Covered Bridges and Sound of Bells books were hints to where that treasure was…  My books are a tour guide to how I have seen this world.  I own many Forrest Fenn and Eric Sloane signed books and I have his prints, too.

Remembering America book was also a hint.  I believe the finder put all of this together and got lucky.  He and his wife almost left without the treasure!

The Gettysburg guy told me he searched for two hours with his son before they found that cool Civil War collectibles treasure!

Zoom in on his photo and look closely!!!

Question:  What is your favorite item in the Caches?

Michael’s Answer: In that Gettysburg treasure, if you look at the top there are two sealed cards one is CSA President Jefferson Davis hand written word.  The other next to it is President Abraham Lincoln hand written word.  Those were really hard to part with from my collection.  I love Lincoln the most of all US Presidents.

Question: What is the oldest treasure item in the treasure caches?

Michael Answers: When I placed all the treasure in the treasure chests I spread out the love.  I would have to zoom in close to each lot when their pictures are out to see what booty they received from the ‘Pirate.’ There is a 3 page list with dates of all the treasure out there.  The treasure and collectibles are pretty great!

To answer the question it seems the 1200 coin from Rome…Some other coins are:

  • France 1580 Henry III
  • Spanish 1400’s Silver Cob
  • Roman Empire Augustus
  • 1700 Crusaders Spanish
  • Bunch of neat 1775 coins

I did not list all the treasures and collectibles in the treasure list to not give away too many location hints.
