Thanks Forrest. I was wondering about the Gold Coins in the chest. Did you have these in a collection before putting them in the chest or did you gather these specifically for the chest? ~x
I had gold coins for sale in my gallery because they made great gifts. Gold changes in value every minute around the clock so I kept my eye on what was happening internationally, and tried to buy when the price was down. It took me ten years to amass the hundreds of gold nuggets that are in the treasure chest. Many were obtained at gun shows where I always paid too much for them. f
FIRST! I should get a gold coin for this! 😛
I know this poem, Iron Will…..that if followed precisely…..will give you many! 🙂
It would be cool (a thrill) to find gold nuggets laying on the ground like arrowheads.
“Hundreds of gold nuggets”??
And those along with all the gold coins, …..not to mention everything else in there, …..and a jar with his autobiography, …..how in the heck did you fit all that stuff in there Forrest? Are you sure that box is only 10x10x5 inches and made of bronze? Are you sure it’s not made of latex? 🙂
Happy St. Patty’s Day Mr. Forrest Fenn!
I meant to say that too, Diana. I’ve been thinking about Forrest and his Fenn name all day. Nobody could pinch me because I was absolutely GREEN with envy as a result. 🙂 Happy St. Patty’s Day, Everyone!

Happy belated St Patty’s Day Everyone 🙂
I wish I would have seen this story on St. Patrick’s Day. It’s a great story of selfless sacrifice for others…in spite of being kicked to the curb. I think both Irish and Native Americans can be proud. Well done.

I’m still trying to find a arrowhead in my location! I try to stay away from gun shows cause I can’t seem to say NO!
Thanks…AGAIN…Jenny and Forrest…and question asker person. Personally, I find great pleasure in clicking on the picture of the gold coins just to make it go BIGGER on my chromebook screen. Actual size? 🙂 Y’all should try it. I find it very therapeutic.
I never held a gold coin, I wonder what’s it like.
Geydelkon, I’ve owned just one small gold coin, a quarter krugerrand strung on a necklace. It was stolen by a hotel maid. She must have needed the money. It would be a blast to look through the different coins, dates etc.
I keep a silver $50 coin in my pocket for good luck.
The first ring my husband hand made for me was from a silver half dollar. The second ring he hand made me – my wedding ring- was from a 1900 Morgan. They are both beautiful!
My grandfather used to carry a $20 gold coin in a small change purse in his pocket. He took it everywhere with him. That is the one item of his that I wish I had.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day Mr. Fenn,
Top of the evening to you. I hope you enjoyed a pastrami sandwich with green sour kraut today!
Thanks for hiding such a generous pot of gold coins. I wish myself the luck of the Irish and hope to thank your green eyes in person one day;)
.
Anybody know what’s wrong with this picture (besides being a day late) ? 🙂

Last letter of each sentence in Forrest’s reply … mnts ..buy a vowel
astree
Yeah, the bottom of the clouds in the picture are clearly not following the curvature of the earth. I can’t believe the poetic license that some artists claim these days. 🙂
The rainbow. 🙂
I’m not sure if Mr. Fenn follows along here, and/or if there’s a formal avenue to pose these questions regarding the treasure search. But my question would be:
Have the rules of capitalization been properly followed throughout the entire poem?
Hi Chicagodave, I will send your question along. Many people send questions through the contact form above, but really any way a question reaches me is fine. 🙂
I would like to say, I send all questions I receive to him. However, Forrest is the one who decides to answer or not….. I have nothing to do with it. If he has answer to a question that has been sent to him for all of us to share in his answer (which sometimes allows him to say a little more than he might otherwise do)…..I post it here.
Thanks for your question. Best of luck with the Chase or whatever you seek!
My guess is that his answer will be “I am not familiar with the rules of capitalization.” But that is just my guess.
Changes every minute around the clock… 🙂
Just like my mind! Tee hee!
🙂
I wouldn’t be surprised if “Brown” was not supposed to be capitalized.
Ouch!! 🙂
IMO, if he capitalized it, it is supposed to be capitalized.
Wouldn’t it be awesome if when we were close to the chest, there would be a trail of gold coins to lead you to it? A gold blaze. So much fun!
Or maybe some fairies dancing around the rocks near the chest or a leprechaun? 🙂
Fairies dancing around the chest or a leprechaun would be nice, but I think I’d prefer to see an X with a giant arrow pointing to it. 🙂

🙂 will, just messin with ya.
But, do you know what you just said? I mean, really? Cause if so, you are very bright, and I’ve got you in my rear view.
Puttputtputtputtputtputtputtputtputt. ..
🙂
yeah but don’t tell too many people around here… I’ve got them “hooked” on a different view 😉
JC1117 – Thank you for posting that song with lyrics. It helped me get through being laid off from my job in Enterprise Sales almost exactly 20 years ago (minus about 2 weeks). I love these lyrics especially:
Hear this voice from deep inside
It’s the call of your heart
Close your eyes and your will find
The passage out of the dark
Follow the blaze,…it is the passion of your heart. 🙂
I also thought of that song when I saw the ornament your wife made. It deserved to win the contest.
JC1117, I enjoyed your silly geometric drawing. Reminds me of something I would freehand and then laugh at myself! But wow, what a beautiful ballad! Until today one I was unfamiar with. In many ways Forrest’s totc has been an angelic influence in my life reopening wings of creativity, dreams, and discovery. Like a butterfly opening its wings to fly again. E* is right, your wife’s angel ornament was a tender and beautiful representation. Hard for me to imagine the assemblage of natural materials so well done. Thanks for posting the song with lyrics:)
You’re very welcome, guys…and gals…and thank you, also. I never saw the video to that song either. It really struck me when I first saw it. I didn’t know Mesa Verde was the location for the video…and since I believe the Treasure is in New Mexico I found it very appropriate. I’m happy that you like it. And my wife thanks you for the compliments about her ornament. It came from her heart and was a labor of love. 🙂
I thought I would post this video for Forrest…since he likes flying and the color blue so much. I hope he gets a chance to see it.

I think being gold is a wise investment.
Personally, I would like to ask Mr. Fenn whether or not the CLUES are all within the mapped out playing field from Too Far To Walk.
Opps, Buying Gold not being gold…
I am wondering if it is possible that someone has found the treasure and just not said anything to anyone. Just how sure is Forrest that it is still there?
You just have to believe Chris…..that’s all it takes.
The Blaze is on AND in the earth. He put it there himself 5 years ago The question is, he has stated that he knows for a fact that people have been within 50 ft of it. Does he know for a FACT that nobody has found it. OR is he just hypothesizing that since no one has come forward that it is still there. This is life changing for most people. Including me. My lady and I WILL spend $4,000.00 on a trip of course we will enjoy it no matter what. But leading us to belief that it is still there when maybe it is not is NOT acceptable. DOES HE KNOW FOR A FACT THAT IT IS STILL THERE. YES OR NO. YES OR NO. It IS possible that someone found it 30 days or less after he put it there. It might have been gone for YEARS. What does he know FOR FACT.Of course I want to get out from behind the desk. Even if just for a little while and of course I will enjoy it. I just dont want to be led by the nose into something that is known not to exist and I hope that Forrest has the truth within him not to allow that to happen to anyone EVEN if it means they get out of the house. IS IT STILL THERE. YES or NO.
Iron Will,
I asked Forrest in a email several months ago if he would tell everyone if the treasure was found. He replied within 10 min. and he told me he would and that is good enough for me. How would he know,? A simple homing device either in or under the chest. Move the chest and he will know. With respect to the 4k you plan on spending–don’t forget that the thrill is in the chase. For what it’s worth, I have dropped 12k on 3 trips and am looking again in July.
That is complete and absolute rubbish. You show me a homing device that’s batteries last 5 yrs … Withstand freezing and heat. Be my guest!
We touched on this subject and they make a trail camera with a solar cell mounted to it with wifi. Just saying that anything is possible
William – On trail cameras,…from Dal’s story of treasure hunting with the BBC folks (scroll down to see the picture with the caption I copied below):
http://dalneitzel.com/2013/08/17/the-british-are-coming/
“A remote camera securely attached to a “bear tree” in order to see what the grizzly’s are up too.”
Use your imagination, think outside of the box. And you could clean up the tone of your emails Bernie….
Emails?
If it helps… when I find the treasure, I’m going to leave SOME of it behind. At least a gold coin or two. So the next person won’t come away completely emptyhanded…
Not me….when it’s over, it’s over. A new chapter begins.
Will what are you doing here anyhow dude. I thought you broke something that couldn’t be repaired. You said you were out of this chase a long time ago..,you and Forrest had a tiff.
Dave it has either already been found by someone that knows how to keep their mouth shut OR well I wont say the rest. It’s not good charachter GOD bless
Okay guys who’s got the gold? Somebody better come forward.
“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
