Six Questions with Jericho Dustlyn:

1Q) When did you first learn about the Treasure Hunt?

Our family first learned about the Treasure Hunt thru media reports early in 2013.

2Q) What inspired you to become involved and begin searching?

About 5 years earlier, in 2008, members of our family exchanged emails about missing treasures that might possibly be found. When we learned about TTOTC, our research, and searching for The Chest began right away. Since then, one or more family members have visited the Rockies dozens of times.

(And I have finally gotten back to editing a short book, not directly about The Chase, and hope to finish it soon.)

3Q) What is your most favorite part about the Treasure Hunt so far?

Visiting, and shooting photos of, some of the awesome wild mountains. And attending a book signing with Forrest Fenn.

4Q) What is your least favorite part about the Treasure Hunt so far?

The unpredictable weather. (And the mud…Forrest was right about the mud.)
We have had to reschedule many planned visits to the Rockies.

5Q) What is the best or most unique thing you found while searching?

Best…time with family!

Most unique…US Quarters, found on the ground, one with one of the 4 states (we prefer not to say which one) on the back, and one with the Great Basin on the back.

Funniest…a great photo of a rainbow, with the end of the rainbow pointing directly at a “Wrong Way” sign…surely a metaphor for our searches so far.

6Q) What more would you like to say?

We are frequently “off the grid”, but we continue to try to “precisely” follow the clues.

And may your families have safe and enjoyable searching!

  1. Thanks for sharing Jericho! Please keep us updated on your book…..

I love your photos… the one with the birds looks like eyes ‘watching you’… and too funny about the rainbow… is that a sign to follow or not? lol.

Again, thanks. I never tire of hearing about other Treasure Hunters’ adventures… they do inspire ….

  2. Lol love the rainbow picture I think we all can relate to that in the Chase!!! Maybe we need to be somewhere in the middle of “off the grid” and “Precisely” to find the Treasure. Forrest once said “I pride myself on being eccentric. I don’t want to go down the center line like a lot of people do.” f

I hope you get to finish your book soon Jericho!

  3. I love your photos, Jericho.

The photo with the birds reminds me of the vultures in The Jungle Book. It’s funny how a picture can trigger a thought.

And your name…Jericho…made me think of backpacking with my boy scout troop over 30 years ago. Most of us had aluminum (aluminium?) external frame backpacks…and our Sierra Cups would make clanging noises as we sauntered up the trail. That made great bear deterrent…looking back…

    Keep making Memories…

    Thank you, Jenny…and Jericho
