Thanks Jenny, Forrest & Mark.
Makes sense to me….
Should we “fit your poem to spot the force”
Or more specifically should we, fit your poem to spot the word “force”
Seems to be a reference to the Crown National but I never C any when I go to the Bar .
.
I foresee a dry spel; who’s Mark?
astree
Thanks Forrest, Jenny & Mark-
At the beginning I found myself forcing “my spot”, the better path is to find “Master Fenn’s Spot”. Where is the end of his rainbow? What kind legacy does he want leave behind? What does he hold dear and why? Is Forrest trying to teach us a lesson? These are the questions I grapple with. Now, I am starting to find meaning behind the TTOTC and the poem.
Happy Trails My Friend!
Amen to that!!!
If I were looking at 2 cars on their side in a particular rivulet, with what would possibly look like a cannon behind it (imagination needed)…. would I be forcing my spot? All hypothetical of course! Thank you Mr. Fenn, Ms. Kile and Mark! Poor Mark! 🙁
Jamie, I just feel sorry for Mark is all. He is probably out there kicking every log and rock, eating worms trying to find Indulgence. 😀
Long thin slimy ones, short fat juicy ones, itsy-bitsy fuzzy-wuzzy worms…
Ms. Kile, I have to ask a stupid question. Was the Crowbar picture your idea for this post, or Mr. Fenn’s idea. I mean I can’t tell what manufacturer made it, (I.e. Stanley, Craftsmen, etc) just curious! 🙂 So the brand is irrelevant!
I chose the image. It’s a Craftsman. 😉
Nice!!! Thank You! 😀
Or else there’s a nasty pig on the loose mixing it’s suet into Fs poem. Lol.
suet (n.) pot (v.)
mid-13c., “to mark or stain with spots;” late 14c. as “to stain, sully, tarnish,” from spot (n.). Meaning “to see and recognize,” is from 1718, originally colloquial and applied to a criminal or suspected person; the general sense is from 1860. Related: Spotted; spotting. Spotted dick “suet pudding with currants and raisins” is attested from 1849.
g spot (n.)
also g-spot, 1981, short for Gräfenberg spot, named for German gynecologist Ernst Gräfenberg (1881-1957), who described it in 1950.
hot spot (n.)
also hotspot, 1888 as a skin irritation; 1931 as “nightclub;” 1938 in the firefighting sense; 1941 as “place of international conflict.” See hot (adj.) + spot (n.).
late 14c., “solid fat formed in the torsos of cattle and sheep,” probably from an Anglo-French diminutive of Old French siu “fat, lard, grease, tallow” (Modern French suif), from Latin sebum “tallow, grease” (see sebum). Related: Suety.
.smear (v.)
Old English smerian, smierwan “to anoint or rub with grease, oil, etc.,” from Proto-Germanic *smerwjan “to spread grease on” (source also of Old Norse smyrja “to anoint, rub with ointment,” Danish smøre, Swedish smörja, Dutch smeren, Old High German smirwen “apply salve, smear,” German schmieren “to smear;” Old Norse smör “butter”), from PIE *smeru- “grease” (source also of Greek myron “unguent, balsam,” Old Irish smi(u)r “marrow,” Old English smeoru “fat, grease, ointment, tallow, lard, suet,” Lithuanian smarsas “fat”).
Figurative sense of “assault a public reputation with unsubstantiated charges” is from 1879. Related: Smeared; smearing. Smear-word, one used regardless of its literal meaning but invested with invective, is from 1938.
Dear God Jamie…. you are like a walking Encyclopedia Britannica! 😀 My head is still spinning!
Nemequene.
Until rainbows are part of the weather forecast you’ll never know when or where you’ll see one.
What about the Rainbow in TFTW? All those pretty colors on Fenn’s map. That’s his rainbow. I am 90% confident. Time to focus on the ends…
The Force be with you Forrest.
Did some thinking last night, now I will have to go back to the bench my father made me for studying on and think some more …………….
The Force with Forrest? He’s just gloating because someone was forced out of CC is on the Run………..
Jamie if you want to set up a forum board let me know…………..Anything can go on that board including Fenn:)
Ha…I can see it now..”The Pickle in the Poque”
(Poke is still used in the Appalacians for “pocket”…some Indian girl told me that after I questioned the contents of his Pockets in a question on here awhile back. I did TRY to find a fold out map of the Appalachians and turquoise lined bracelet in the Poke…but F answered something about a Chap Stick and hearing aid batteries instead. No help there, no hearing aid here….so back to me Conch Shell I guess.) Forum? sure. I’m in. Call me Jonsey on the Dot…..wipe down the mantle and get that bandana ready for some sweat. 😉
THE FORCE
“These are his substance, sinewes, armes, and strength, With which he … Razeth your Cities, and subverts your Townes.”
(Shakespeare@ Henry VI part II, 1691)
If you invite your neighbours to a barn raising, you had better get the spelling right, or the consequences might be unfortunate.
Already have it set up just have to do the upgrading. It’s called “The Sierra-Hotel”
A term used by fighter pilots (and those who want to be) which means “Shit-Hot!!”
Oh my God their already swearing and their not sorry for having an opinion! Their already talking Sierra about me!!
Where’s my lawyer?
I LOVE the Sierra Hotel name :)!!!went there after getting distracted by a Rainbow during an Ariel Sandwich Manuver myself one time. But I promised not to tell. I hear they were common during “Lunch” time too…but I wasn’t part of that operation. I prefer to order my snacks from a self taught Menu I’m the comfort of my PJs. The Sierra Hotel seems like it would have GREAT NEIGHBOURS in the lounge. X marks the Spot with a Dot and a Dot …. and maybe the spirit of a Navajo Code talker even too. Bwahaaa
Sounds great you just need a key, please send me one and my check in time.
You can be my Wingman:)
Can give you full access to the board by a Mod privilege………http://thesierrahotel.proboards.com/
Just don’t blow it up……..Well you can if you think Fenn has over run the place:)
http://thesierrahotel.proboards.com/
Basically we want to do the Fenn’s Hunt which will be the 1st board and then create a 2nd board below to do anything with Treasure Hunting………Take a look at Treasure Net and how that is set up:)
That way once Fenn’s hunt goes it won’t become worthless. The 2nd board will kick in and keep things going…..Unlike CC a dying lame duck.
http://thesierrahotel.proboards.com/
Wow, that looks Ricky rich…….it would be an honor, but I would probably be out of my element in my holy Levis and worn out hikers. Would I have to sign a non-compete clause? How long would the contract be for? Is there room service?
Have you ever been to a Pilots Club? Where do you think they blow off the steam and stress at?
Maybe we’ll throw all bar glasses at the fireplace every night:)
Any ways it has a private viewing section for members only………Tired of all these Guests floating around sticking their noses in my face over at CC. They are the biggest free loaders……..
No more of that:)
Now I’m just waiting for the lawsuit threats LOL:)
Sounds like my kinda party, but I must request exploding glass just in case I don’t get a direct hit or what if’s a tiny fireplace.
The trick is to use paper or plastic cups;)
Meet me at the pilot’s club. I need a drink and I need to blow off some steam!
Well it appears they lost the licence and got shut down
WTF, Ricky? Your new forum didn’t last long. It was gone before I could even sign up. What happened this time?
“You do not need a crowbar,” If you have the “KEY.”
Maybe there is an obstruction, like 2 pieces of concrete in the way of the entrance! 🙂
Kinda like plaque buildup , ya think?
Those are never good…. heart attack city! 🙁
Yes, but a crowbar is easier to locate than the correct key. My dad always said I could tear up a crowbar, I wonder what I could do with a key?
Last time I waded out to a sand bar there was no Crow…or Bass… in sight. Just an old jointed miro-lure waiting to be cast. Good thing it was made to bend.
I still agree the Tur(n)Key should be our national bird. Or even the Pheasant. Neither would eat crow.
It could go either way, “You do not need a key,” if you have a crowbar!!
“Don’t force the poem to fit your spot”. I’m confused. You mean the big spot on my wall, the situation I’m currently in, or my dog?
Ye be lookin’ fer the black spot, Matey (aka Joe…Sparrow).

Is this Mark the poster Mark J?
Am I the only one who wonders what Mark’s question was?
if we figure out who Mark is, then we can ask him to post it. Or Fenn could just post it.
“Don’t force the poem to fit your spot. Thank You Mark” f
Mark can mean Important. If you put the MARK at the front it = “Important; Don’t force the poem to fit your spot. Thank You.” or “Don’t force the poem to fit your spot. Thank You. (This is) Important.”
Who wrote Forrest a solve that had the solver trying to “force Fit” a particular location into the poem?
Just something to chew on.
JDA
Another thought JDA, it could be a reference to the only “Question Mark” in the poem. In this sentence, FF is describing the “why” of his hunt. Can’t force the answer, the answer has to “fit” the poem and the FF story.
Now I see why Forrest said, Read the blogs for entertainment . It is very entertaining watching everyone try to figure out who Mark is 😛
Mark is my son, we call him
Markey Mark, a hold over from his childhood. His marquis board at the movies should read: A&M kid finds treasure at the ATM.
He once hiked some beautiful country alone with me which was the key to him thinking mom was cooler than dad. I loved it! One of my favorite memories. Thanks truly Forrest for elevating my sons estimation of his mama.
No reason to head to crow agency for a beer. I’ll just hang out at the pilots club with the gang here.
Thank you Jenny and Forrest for the surprise words and you too Mark.
As a veteran diesel mechanic,I have learned not to force any part that does not fit.
Thank you for all your kind words.
I forgot to mention.
I have a few parts that I can’t make fit?
You are welcome Forrest.
Hey Mark J,
Could you share your question with the rest of us, the funky bunch. Would be very nice. Thanks
There was no question. I had emailed Forrest the comment and he thought it was good advice for all.
Mark, I thought the name was familiar and wondered. And now I recognize your picture too. You’re from the UK, aren’t you?
Indiana, although I have visited the UK, or more accurately for my visit to say I visited Great Britain.
Ah, ok Mark. I think you might have mentioned some knowledge of the UK somewhere, so the cause of my confusion…maybe.
I’m wondering about that picture, are you part of a group looking for this treasure? This is just an idle curiosity, so no need to reply and no hard feelings of you don’t.
The picture is of me (right) with two family friends in Athens Greece.
I search alone, no need to get others lost with me.
Getting lost is fun, like when Mr. Fenn and Donnie, I believe it was, got turned around on horseback! 🙂
Chesney, I can see how a person might get lost riding a backwards horse.
Thanks Mark J. 🙂
Actually Mark, Fenn did add a subtle clue in there.
This is good advise. However, I’ve found that one may need to solve the poem many times before it is fruitful.
-C
Using force is somewhat countary to the meek.
from the re its no pla CEFOR the meek
sounds close to the Home Of Brown
when is Forrest’s birthday any way ?
thanks in advance ?
Astree… it is tomorrow. . 8/22 , he will be 13 in his mind, 68 on the backwards bicycle, 86 years the wiser! 🙂
Thanks, Chesney. A good ole Leo ( I hop I got the right sign ). Just wait until he’s 91 and gets on that bike. 🙂
Yes astree, he just barely made the cut to be a Leo. Broken bones don’t mend quite as well, with age. I hope that he will refrain from such activities, llike “The backwards bike”! 🙂
Good point. My dad was going to learn to ride my motorcycle when he was about 45; ended up with a few broken ribs and never got on it again.
But terry scant and marvel gauze, I think he just wrapped it up.
They can’t do much with broken ribs. Had bruised or broken ribs from a car accident once
… at least a month of pain. Even rough to try to sleep! 🙁
And If you throw a Mark Twain quote in the mix maybe he’ll be 180.
I got a 4 ALL 2 SEEK as 180 = 4 x (1+12+12) + 2 x (19+5+5+11)
You know TWAIN are the first 5 large caps in the book, including the “T” from “The Thrill”
So, TWAIN is a twin and is also worth the cold. Two fathom, and that reminds me of a Raquel Welch movie by Forrester, hmmm. Reference 9 says she lived up to her legend. I guess its time to halt
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fathom_(film)#References
.
meant “based on the story by Forrester”. The Mayo Clinic is not where they make BLT’s

Hmmm….180….Cheyenne, WY.
Hey Astree… I tried to send you a pm over at 12 but you box is full???
Bob, I have never seen a backwards horse. Does it look like a pushme-pullyou? 🙂
BW, I think it looks more like one of those 2 man horse costumes worn by a couple of attendees at a Fireman’s Convention.
Which can be a confusing, although humorous sight to the sober.
That gets me to thinking, Buckeye Bob.
A two man horse costume. Hmmm…
You mean like this?
https://m.youtube.com/?#/watch?v=6byxk-hIyiU
Hmmm, barrancoso comes to mind.
https://www.yellowstoneangler.com/index.php/fly-fishing-travel/jurassic-lake-argentina-huge-rainbows
pdenver, thanks for the break. Big hole, big hook, big tippit, weight forward, no need to pry any deeper if it’s out of range.
Hello, Strawshadow.
Barrancoso? More like Rollocoso.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=P2AZH4FeGsc
Do you like rollocosos?
Who doesn’t like a classic? Rollocoso? More questions than answers. Like when I first read a poem, looked at a map north of Santa Fe, and left the next morning a few years ago to go and pick up a treasure:)
Sorry. I like to make up words…but it doesn’t do any good if nobody understands what it means.
No need to apologize:) I started by going over old notes which took me to an old fishing solution with 36 degree water and spotted fish and Santa Fe in Argentina next to Chile. All I know is writers block is no easy task to overcome for a poor soul who can’t write who just keeps fishing for words.
Crash and burn JC1117, spot on how funny that scene is the most remembered from the wide world of spots. If only he would have hit his spot he would never have been so famous. So why is Your Spot so important? If I’m writing down my thoughts I feel like I should be searching some spot, If I’m searching, I feel like I should be writing something down about that spot. Start at the beginning, define spot, even though my thoughts are a bit spotted today, I will try and spot the spot where undue force was spotted prying with the flow of the poem.
Hello, Strawshadow.
My thoughts are a bit spotted every day…and I still don’t know anything “for sure”.
For some strange reason…I keep thinking about this today…
https://www.ourdocuments.gov/doc.php?flash=true&doc=36&page=transcript
Very spotty, in deed…but it’s a long ways away from the Rocky Mountains.
JC,
I forsee somewhere on that spot a line being drawn if something doesn’t change soon. Are we fated for history to repeat itself?
Wow, JL.
Your question is fully loaded. I’m afraid I don’t have a very diplomatic answer. It’s a treacherous world we live in. I can’t see why it would suddenly change for the better.
This could be a long discussion. 🙂 Suffice it to say, I believe that if we…as individuals…are not guilty of hating or launching offenses then our Face to face meeting with our Maker will be a pleasant one.
I also believe that all men have a God-given Right to stand in defense of Peace, Life, Love and Liberty.
The history of the world shows there has always been opposition to those Principles.
Thank you Mr Fenn, It took me a few days, but I now understand the Twain quote. I have changed my solve and find myself a good map.
My spot? A rest area near Santa Fe, with a blown gearbox via the last ascent to town 🙁
I am not Mark. However recently I realized I was forcing the poem to fit my spot. I realized it prior to FF making this statement. I believed I knew the creek and the water high. I was wrong. In April I was there and discovered a creek by my water high. I believed I was correct. In retrospect how could I be correct. FF talks about the creek prior to water high. Yet I found my creek AFTER I found water high. I should have known the creek BEFORE I knew water high. It is my OPINION that we should take FF at his word and realize that the poem is much more straight forward than most believe. Each clue (and solution) must come before the next.
The above is my opinion. I have a tendency to offend people by being straight forward. I hope I have not done so here as it was not my intention.
GOD bless everyone engaged in TTOTC and FF for providing it for us all.
John Boy
Don’t force the poem to fit your spot, MARK the spot that fit’s the poem? Lol, I don’t know.
I really don’t thank Fenn’s word have a meaning about clue’s to the treasure, I thank bye now he’s wishing he never agreed to have to say something every week about it. All Clue to find treasure are in the poem!!! Nope, nope
I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place on this one. The Mark has more significance than the force or the spot. Mark J, please don’t claim or lead on to being the person that asked the question, unless (of course) that is the case. It would be very misleading in confirmation of certain solves if it was misrepresented.
Wash
Maybe X Marks the Spot?
ding ding ding… and the winner is!… 😛
You? 😛
I just meant someone else finally got it right
Is the spot 2B or not? I’ll just be happy if I see an arrow point in the shade while riding a horse with a blaze. That 8.25 measurement is throwing me off since ff is an exacting sort of fellow…but one who doesn’t follow conventional thought or rules.
His statement about treasure chest being hidden in the Rocky Mtns at least 8.25 miles north of Santa Fe would still be correct if he was referring to Santa Fe, Argentina. Has he definitively stated north of Santa Fe, NM?
I’ve been listening to ff video clips and not yet heard that.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Fe,_Argentina
Ha, Lia!
That’s like 300 miles west of Toledo. Is that Spain?
Forrest set the boundaries by talking about the little girl from India.
But we wanted a clue. The only clues according to this chase are in the poem.
“Between a rock and a hard place.” – Been stuck on that one!
SL
The poem has been solved!!! My spot was wrong, I was 110% sure too but was 110% wrong. The question is, did I come out of their with something to treasure? Yes, yes I did, my memory of that crazy adventure with two friends from Missouri to New Mexico. THE REAL SOLVE; ” As I have gone alone in there and with my treasure’s bold, I can keep my secret where, and hint of riches new and old”. ( The first four sentences mean, THOUGHT’S and DREAMS.) “Begin it where warm waters halt and take it in the canyon down, not far, but too far to walk, put in below the home of Brown”. ( The next four sentences mean, HEART and SOUL.) ” From there it’s no place for the meek, the end is ever drawing nigh; there’ll be no paddle up your creek, just heavy loads and water high. (The meaning for this, one word DEATH.) “If you’ve been wise and found the blaze, look quickly down your quest to cease, but tarry scent and marvel gase, just take the chest and go in peace”. ( meaning, This part means to look at YOURSELF and EXCEPT WHO YOU ARE.) ” So why is it I must go and leave my trove for all to seek? The answer I already know, I’ve done it tired, and now I’m weak”. ( This part Forest tells you why he had to lie to you about a treasure chest, it’s because he could tell you till he’s blue in the face to go out and enjoy LIFE and LIVE LIFE, but would you of, if he didn’t sweeten the pot? ) “So hear me all and listen good, your effect will be worth the cold, if you are brave and in the wood, I give you title to the gold”. ( This means, just hear him out before you judge him, listen, you and your family getting out and enjoying life and living it, is worth the cold hearted lie he has told us. I call it a lie because Forest does to! If you have seen Pinocchio fary god mother said; BE BRAVE MY LITTLE PINOCCHIO BE BRAVE.) Yes, their iis a treasure out their for all of us, go out LIVE LIFE, it’s to short, Fenn is still alright in my book!!! Thanks
Thomas,
I really thought you might have had something very intelligent to say, but Nope! The Treasure is real, and My Crystal Ball says it will be found VERY soon!
Chesney, don’t just read threw this solveso fast, thank about the meanings and read it over and over it’s true, also the question that was asked to Fenn, will the poem lead a person to the treasure chest and he answered, “nope”. Now if they would have left out the word chest and just said treasure, the answer would have been, ” Yep”
I don’t get where you are coming from. Thank and Think have totally different meanings, for starters! And if you don’t believe in Indulgence, why are you here?
Yes I can’t spell very good, but why are any of us here, just living life I guess!
Thomas, what is your “source” for this claim of yours . . . that Fenn answered “will the poem lead a person to the
treasure chest?” — and he answered “nope”. ??
Thank you in advance for pointing us to where Fenn said this.
Good luck in finding whatever you’re seeking.
Andrew he is trying to logically replace meanings using the 500 years Featured question…
If in 500 years all a person has is the poem, and no back story: they don’t know “in the rocky mountains north of santa fe” or that there are 9 clues etc. Could a person reasonably just use the words in the poem and find your treasure chest?
Thank you ~Nope
Thank you Nope. Nope. f
Basically what this says is, will the poem (by itself, without maps, backstory, or intention of 9clues) lead a person to the treasure. And I agree with Thomas’s assessment somewhat. It’s like the Pledge of Allegiance. Let’s assume for just one moment that it is a riddle that leads to a Mason treasure. But no one has ever mentioned that… or hinted about clues within it, or explained a complete backstory behind it’s creator and a treasure he or she hid. So all this time we grow up just repeating the words, never knowing there was a treasure hunt buried within.
However the logic Thomas wants to use here is slightly flawed, because he has brought about a conclusion that is not supported (completely) by the premises. He did not make clear with his version of the quote that no maps can be used, you can’t know who Forrest Fenn is or anything about his treasure hunt (because that is considered “backstory”).
Hope that helps…. Will
And yes the treasure is real but not the one your looking for.
Any thoughts on the reflection in the crowbar? Why is the middle a different color? Then down by the crook on the left eng there seems to be a reflection also but I just can’t make it out.
Hello JL. This is a photo Jenny found online. I won’t stop you from wondering, though. 🙂
It sure did take me long enough, but I think I finally figured out the hint in this!
