Which phrases, words, or lines in Stanza 5 might link to locations and act like a map?
What has Justin said about Stanza 5?
- Q: You said, “As hope surges, clear and bright” is the first actionable clue. You haven’t specified, but what is the last actionable clue?
- A: Let me check. (opens book to read poem) “Which stanza has the last actionable clue?” I don’t want a cop out answer. It does somewhat depend, and depending on your interpretation, it’s either stanza 4 or 5
From his answer, Justin suggests all action on part of the searcher – that the treasure could be found – by the end of Stanza 4. However, that doesn’t mean the last stanza doesn’t hold meaning in order to better understand what those actions might be.

Truth rests not in clever minds,

- Could ‘Truth’ be a location, object, something that needs found?
Not in tangled, twisted finds.
- Truth is straightforward
Like a river’s steady flow,
- Remains constant – living in time?
- Might link back to Stanza 1’s phrase: ‘Flowing through each measured rhyme.’
What you seek, you already know.
- The word ‘Already’ is the only word in the poem with 3 syllables. Could what we know link back to ‘foot of 3’?
