Seven Paces have been hosting hunts for a few years now! Their latest released treasure hunt is ‘A Fortune Lies Within Vermont’. It’s a book (available on Amazon) that holds clues to claim a treasure valued of at least $2500. Exciting! Will you be the one to find it?
Let’s learn more!
Six Questions with Redbeard:
- 1Q) Congrats on the release of your Seven Paces Adventure: A Fortune Lies Within Vermont! Please share how someone can get involved and what the treasure is!
Thanks! We’re really excited to host a new hunt in a new location! Getting involved is easy! We published a short book that contains clues to the location of our treasure. You can get a paperback edition from Amazon or an Ebook from Apple Books! There are links to each edition here: https://sevenpaces.com/hunt/vermont/
- 2Q) Did you come across the location to hide your treasure while looking for Jon Collins-Black treasure? Could someone searching for JCB’s Appalachian Footpath box happen upon your hidden treasure instead?
Yes! Before we set out for Vermont to look for JCB’s Appalachian Footpath box we decided that we were going to hide a treasure of our own. We had a LOT of potential locations that we wanted to search in Vermont, so we knew a lot about the area. It was easy to find a good spot for our treasure! As for a JCB hunter accidentally finding our treasure; it’s very unlikely that would happen.
- 3Q) How far is the treasure hidden from where a searcher parks? How far off a trail does a searcher have to go to find the treasure location?
For this we decided to follow the same guidelines as JCB. No more than 3 miles from a road, not in water, not up high, and not in a hard to reach place. All to say, in a relatively accessible location. If you can make the hike up to a place like Green Mountain, (which actually proved a bit treacherous in the rain), you can easily reach the location of our treasure.
- 4Q) How would you categorize your clues, and can you provide an estimate of how many clues are in the book to find the treasure? What advice can you give to searchers working on the hunt?
The book is a retelling of our experiences in Vermont while searching for JCB’s treasure, (a wildly embellished version of events but it mostly follows our trail.). As for the clues, it’s hard to give a count. Much of the book is intended to give the reader a general sense of location and direction. My advice would be to not overthink things, (Yes, we’re looking at you Ross 😉 ).
We did not design it to be super difficult. One additional note; we’ve been following the TTI community on discord, facebook and reddit and decided to base a few characters on community members. Some details about the characters in the book that seem odd or out of place could be a clue, or could just be an inside joke that only members of the TTI community will pick up on.
- 5Q) Do the clues in your hunt take you to the exact location of the hidden treasure? How will you know when the treasure is found? Are you expecting this treasure to be found quickly – or might the hunt last into the fall or beyond?
You should be able to get very close to the treasure if you follow the clues carefully, (maybe a 50 foot radius?). The hunt is designed to be a consolation prize for JCB hunters who have run out of ideas. Keeping frustrated JCB hunters in mind, we want it to be easier to find than JCB’s, but not too terribly obvious. We will know it is found because the treasure contains instructions on how to collect the bounty.
- 6Q) Are you planning on releasing other hunts with larger prizes in coming months? Please share what is in the works for Seven Paces!
Yes! We have a lot of plans in the near future!
1. We’re gearing up for a treasure hunt in our hometown of Grand Forks, North Dakota for a walloping $20,000, (maybe more!). We’ve received sponsorships from several local organizations that are excited about what we’re doing. Thanks to them, we are able to guarantee the prize and possibly go even bigger! The hunt begins on August 22nd!
2. We’re in the process of hitting up popular locations for the remaining JCB boxes and dropping our own treasures in each location, just like we did in Vermont!
3. I’m leaving for a BOTG trip tomorrow morning! I’ll almost certainly find a box this weekend and then plan to use the publicity to promote these and other treasure hunts. The long game is for us to find a way to do this kind of thing full time. We look forward to the day when we can earnestly update our LinkedIn profiles to include the title “Professional Treasure Hunter” right at the top of the list!
That’s all for me! Thanks so much for taking interest and helping to promote our hunt! We’ll keep you updated as things progress!
