In each of the chapters in Part 2 of the book is shown an image of There’s Treasure Inside coins – which are commemorative. One for each of the smaller boxes –

In the book, Jon writes:

“Each treasure box also comes with a special commemorative coin designed by Seth Gould. Each coin has been placed inside its corresponding box.”

This paragraph comes right after Jon mentions that each box contains a laminated clue for finding the Lion’s Share box. Are they connected? Will the coin work with the laminated clue in some way?

They are beautiful coins – as are the boxes.

There's Treasure Inside FAQ's

Here are the top 5 interesting notes made about the coins:

  • Each coin is unique to itself
  • Each coin includes an angled line – which is different on each
  • Each coin includes a circle
  • The Pokemon coin is the only coin where the angle is not within that circle
  • Each coin coincides with its treasure box design– for instance the AT coin demonstrates the blue steel like how the PF coin shows the textured steel of its box.

It is unclear if the coins hold clues to its box location or are merely decorative.

Each of the treasure boxes are also puzzle boxes – so the coins’ features may indicate or connect to how the puzzle boxes are opened.

However, searchers have used the Past and Future box coin to match the state lines of California and Nevada.

This supports the theory that this box is in the Tahoe area. If the box is in the Tahoe area, and this is not confirmed, it would also support the theory that the coins are clues to the location of the boxes.

One the questions being discussed on the MW Discord is how can the coins be used as clues?    I feel they could each be used differently.  Here are some options:

  • The angled lines match to state, county, or other items on a map – as it might with the Lake Tahoe
  • The degrees of the angle match to a route number, Longitude or Latitude for its box..
  • The angled lines help to discover the location of the box off trail in some way.

Whether these coins are clues or not – Time will tell….
