Following are 8 fall 2024 treasure hunts that are fully armchair. For those unfamiliar, an armchair treasure hunt is a produced puzzle hunt with clues to find a treasure. Some of these require BOTG – physically going out to a secreted location to retrieve the actual treasure or to retrieve a proxy in order to claim the treasure.

Others can be claimed all from home. Both require clues to be solved from the home, or armchair. Hence the name – armchair treasure hunts.

1) Best Riddles Treasure Hunt

  • Need to submit the correct answer to the Riddle to claim the treasure

2) CRACKED! Bitcoin Treasure Hunt

  • Treasure is Bitcoin Wallet (currently $15,000)

  • Need to discover the 12 Keywords to open the Bitcoin Wallet

3) The Mad Tea Party Treasure Hunt

  • Released Feb. 2021 by David Jacobsen (available on Amazon)
  • Clues inside a book to solve 3 different riddles to claim 3 different treasure caches.
  • Two have been solved – only One remains – the March Hare Riddle –
  • Treasure is various jewels and gemstones – gold and silver coins
  • No end date
  • Need to submit the correct answer to the Riddle

4) The Orange Tree Treasure Hunt

  • Need to discover a ‘Word’ or Phrase’ from the clues and submit the correct answer

5) Aree and the Holy Grail Treasure Hunt

  • BOTG is optional (submissions via email are accepted)
  • Treasure is a chalice of silver bars, coins, and jewels
  • Need to discover a location of hidden item – able to claim from home

6)The Bookshop: A Treasure Hunt

  • Clues within the book
  • Treasure is signed Masquerade book, silver coins, and various other treasures. Total approx. $500

The next two – although fully armchair – concern locations in the UK

7) The Hare on the Moon Treasure Hunt

  • Clues are within the book via text and images
  • Submission form for the correct location/answer on website
  • Treasure is a beautiful and valuable painting of the sacred three golden hares (value $5,000-10,000)
  • No end date
  • Mission is to find the clues, identify the required words (which form a sentence) and find the map coordinates to locate the sacred site. 

8) The Oracle Treasure Hunt

  • Clues are in the book– both visual and literal
  • Search for hidden item/OR claim from home- Based in UK
  • Prize around $6,000 cash
  • No End Date
  • Need to discover location of hidden item – however, submissions to that location are accepted on the MW forum (log in for access)– if correct – can claim the cash.
