Congrats to Beth H. (GeneticBlend)! She has won the Forrest Fenn Gold Medallion design contest and will receive one of the exclusive Forrest Fenn Gold Medallions!
We had a very difficult time choosing from all the fantastic and creative submissions. Thank you all for participating in the contest.
What helped us decide on a design were a few factors.
Uniqueness and beauty, of course, but also a Medallion design that would stand the test of time and honor The Thrill of the Chase and Forrest Fenn.
Beth’s Design consisted of all of this! We love it!
You may notice it is a bit different than any one of the various options she submitted. The reason is because we asked her to combine some of the elements she had on her different Medallions on to one, creating the winning design!
Although some of the Medallions will be hidden in the Appalachians, and the idea was inspired by the Little Girl from India’s Question/Answer segment, we were concerned placing ‘Appalachia’ on any part of the Medallion could become confusing in say 100 years from now. The Medallions will be awesome souvenirs of the Forrest Fenn’s Treasure Hunt.
That is why we asked her to combine and change some minor elements on her overall design.
As mentioned in the contest details, the back of the Medallion will include The Thrill of the Chase Poem, Special Doodles from Forrest, and Forrest’s Signature. First and foremost, the Medallions are connective to The Thrill of the Chase, and we didn’t want to produce a Medallion that might imply a different location than the Rocky Mountains for Forrest’s hidden Treasure Chest.
So with a gathering of Beth’s Designs, let us present the WINNING MEDALLION!

Forrest just approved the final design chosen (and also approved the surprise design on the back of the Medallion)

And the date of 1/3/2019 is so very fenn – Quadrantids Meteor Shower, January 1-5, peaks the night of the 3rd, the moon will be a thin crescent and should not interfere, meteors will radiate from the constellation Bootes…
