Six Questions with Kpro:

1)When did you first hear and learn about the Treasure Hunt?

In 2015/2016, my brother was a searcher who needed a search partner. He had been searching alone and thought I could come along with him for safety. We had lost our mother due to a sudden heart attack, and after years of estrangement and strain between him and I, we were growing close from our shared life’s tragedy. I wanted to show him I was there for him, but treasure hunting was completely outside my wheelhouse. He is big-strong-adventurous-man; I was serious-corporate-boring type. I decided it was time for one adventure of a life time, out of respect of my mom’s memory alone. He asked me to google “Forrest Fenn”.

2)What inspired you to become involved and begin searching?

BOTG. Anyone who has been BOTG probably knows what I mean. There is this rush of finding it, the dream about how we would run when we found that treasure chest (like Forrest Gump, run Forrest, run!) and the fun about how we would figure out how to change lives once we had it in our hands. I was in Yellowstone, never saw such an amazing terrain and I marveled in its vastness. I remember just sitting and watching the world and thought “What on earth made me take so long to finally start living life”. My mom was there with me that day, in spirit, of course.

Learning. As I complete each post-BOTG walk of shame (credit: Copper for the term), I learned about failure, emotions, reflection, and resilience. I keep learning about myself and others. I have figured out this is more of a life’s journey than a journey for a treasure chest. (But do not mistake my intent, I still want that treasure chest…. Haha).

3)What is your most favorite part about the Treasure Hunt so far?

BOTG. Without a doubt. The high, the crash, the lessons of life, the adventure, and nature. Pretty much every single thing about BOTG I love. I think every searcher who has been BOTG probably knows what I mean, therefore enough said.

People: I continue to meet new people, I run a forum forums.hintofrichs.com (THOR). There I get to build friendships, banter about the chase, critically analyze others thoughts, get my own thoughts questioned, and just be silly. Like that Cheer’s bar (I think that makes me and all of you old if you know what television show I am talking about 🙂 ), there is always someone who knows my name and a place to find someone like me. We don’t always agree, but that is half the fun. Some of my favorite searchers I met outside of the forum though, and I consider my search friends, actually I consider them friends. I was at the home of a searcher and her 5 year old son sat on my lap and showed me a fun game he was playing as we talked about the chase. Another searcher showed me a binder of each place she had visited in her quest for the chest and I saw the sparkle in her eye as she shared her adventures. The binder was about 5 inches in thickness of adventures. Such special memories.

4)What is your least favorite part about the Treasure Hunt so far?

Some searchers get frustrated with this chase and project it in a negative way onto other searchers or Forrest Fenn himself. I have seen actions that attack others on a very personal level. I understand frustration, but do not understand how far some people take their actions. Thank goodness we are only talking about 1%, but as the saying goes, “One bad apple spoils the bunch”.

5)What is the best or most unique thing you found while searching for Forrest Fenn’s treasure chest?

Might sound silly but “myself”. I lost my way for a long while after my mom died. She was my absolute best friend and I had babies she loved to see everyday. Everyone mourns in different ways. I went dark, lost my spirit, cried a lot, and mad at the world. But I found a way to rebuild myself, my heart, and especially my soul through this hunt. I found new relationships with friends, lost 70 pounds, a happy outlook on life, and a gypsy soul that loves adventure. I find myself laughing too much, which is never a bad thing (though may irritate others). I now have a bucket list of adventures and a spirit to tackle them. How on earth did this all happen? 🙂

6) What more would you like to say?
I want to say thank you. Thank you to Forrest Fenn and this community for lighting a fire back in my heart. We are only as strong as our community. We come together when we have a fellow searcher in need. I have the privilege in helping organize that right now for Jamie Jordan who lost her home and business in the California Wildfires. Thank you to Jamie Jordan for showing us what we should be in life. Nice, fun, and special without even knowing it. We have come together for her in her time of need. It is like magic.

Finally, I consider myself a strong female searcher, a mama bear, and someone who will strive everyday to be a better person but not let others get me down or attack me. Be careful of this gypsy soul, I will call out the haters, depending on the circumstance, you might get a good talking to if you need it.

My new motto in life: She has the soul of a gypsy, the heart of a hippy, and the spirit of a fairy.

Best of luck with all you seek! Always Treasure the Adventure!

  1. Great answers kpro! I’m so happy for you and your brother being able to bond in such a way after such a tragedy. Your spirit is uplifting and I’m proud you are part of our great chase family. Thank you for all you do, and don’t ever lose that “thrill”!

  2. Absolutely love your answers kpro. Thanks for sharing your story with us. Sometimes it’s really hard to believe that there are all of the people sharing this great adventure together. I’m a very competitive person and I always have to be right. It is easy to fall victim to ‘mind-blindness’ with such a Grand Prize on the line. I never took you serious as a contender until now. Your spirit is in the right place and that is definitely a positive for everyone. Sorry I doubted you. I didn’t realize you had been through so much. It’s not that I judged the book by it’s cover. I simply overlooked the book while searching for something else. I’m proud of you and I’m sure your family is too. It is extremely difficult to get out of a rut once you’ve been in one for so long. I think the support the community has given my friend, jdiggins, is the most honorable thing I have seen from humanity in more years than I can count. It’s amazing seeing everyone put down their gloves and coming together. This chase continues to boggle my mind with so much love from everyone for everyone. You inspired me with this today. Thanks again, friend. Best of luck to you and yours.

    1. A race against who? The summer people and the winter people are the same people. I’m discovering long lost civilizations raising the bar higher everyday and others seem to just be tending it. Best of luck to everyone, of course. I remember my parents drinking and they stopped when I was 10.

    2. Hello LuckyGuy. This reminds me of the story with Delores and the deal she made with Mr. Fenn. In particular, the thought of counting the tail as a leg, or something like that. It’s been a while since I’ve read that story. It would seem any number could be chosen to represent another, yet we are to remember there are nine clues.

    1. I will definitely need more info before making any sort of sizable contribution. It appears the location given is off of Bartlett Springs Road or 17 N 01 D Road just North of Long Valley Ridge. I believe it’s all kosher but the IRS may need more info than is provided. Especially considering the $150,000 donation I intend on making. Wondering if I had two others donate $50,333.33 in their names along with mine if it would increase my chances of taking it all. I’m sure if you were in a position similar to this you would understand. I would donate directly without entering, but the information provided isn’t sufficient to make a decision on what is best for my family. If Jamie Jourdan would please provide that information and perhaps an address to list as property I’m investing in for my records. It may be more beneficial to Jamie and the other property owners in the area if this were a donation made to an organization which qualifies for charitable contribution deductions. I guess I will hit up Morgan Stanley and see which would be a wiser route. 85% of everything I read on here can be proven without a doubt, it is the 15% I worry about. I could donate the coordinates to the chest instead, but I would come out worse off than J is now.

  4. Good morning treasure searchers…
    NEWS FLASH
    …………..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!……….!!!!!!!!!!!!………….
I FOUND THE CHEST “IN THE POEM”

Ain’t no sence traipsing any further through the Rockies… I’ll tell you now exactly where the poem says the chest is. Beneath the spare tire well and tire iron in his Jeep Cherokee Summit.

That way “indecision is the key to flexibility” and… “Any road will get you there.” FF said easy to go twice to the car in one day, easy to go back for it at any time, and easy to give it a ride through the Rockies so he’s not lying. And he’s able “to take it with him when he goes.” Very clever Forrest.

I have truly solved ttotc poem. All you have to do is drop the poem in a grid without spaces.

find the word summit and car in the center of the poem (when dropped into a grid).

You can literally Connect the dots to draw the Jeep Summit and find the “loot tool” which is the tire iron.

Yes, of course I have emailed F to claim my prize. Of course he will never respond to that because it’s too easy to keep it and take with him, just as he said he would.

There are 2 places ff wouldn’t include inside the treasure poem unless true… because it brings unwanted, negative focus on ff. His home and his car. the chest is in his Jeep Summit.

  5. The treasure chest is not hidden in a mine, but you will need to mine the poem for clues. Get your pick and shovel out. Be prepared to get down and dirty. Dig deep. Stay hydrated. One of those margaritas maybe? Isn’t this fun? ⛏🍸🍺🍻🥂🍷🥃🍹
