1)When did you first hear and learn about the Treasure Hunt?

Thank you for the question. I am curious about reading how different, or similar, others’ answers are to my own. I had walked away from my desk job that I had been miserable at for several years. I took a hiatus from “modern life”, and lived off some money that I had saved. I needed something new. I felt like life had lost a sense of adventure. I had no idea what I was going to do next. And I loved not knowing. But I knew I needed to take advantage of the time I had. I knew I wanted to explore, and I knew my time was as limited as the amount of money left in my bank account.

I really wanted to go on a treasure hunt. The thought had crossed my mind a few times. I just assumed that thought was as realistic as saying I was gonna be the guy who discovers real-life unicorns. But I guess, just for novelties sake, I must have just googled about old treasures that had never been found, or something. Just as sort of a passing thought you think of reading about when you’re bored.

Imagine my surprise when I found Mr. Fenn’s story.

2)What inspired you to become involved and begin searching?

Well, I have to be honest. I was more than just a little cynical about how genuine of a guy this Fenn guy was. But the more I read about him, the more interviews I watched…. it eventually dawned on me…. “Wow… You know, what? I’m starting to think this guy is the real deal. In fact… Not only do I believe him. I’m starting to like him!”

I’ve been obsessed ever since. lol

3)What is your most favorite part about the Treasure Hunt so far?

The learning process involved, for a city-boy like me, adapting to the mountains, the wilderness, rivers, and canyons.

4)What is your least favorite part about the Treasure Hunt so far?

The learning process involved, for a city-boy like me, adapting to the mountains, the wilderness, rivers, and canyons. Lol.

5)What is the best or most unique thing you found while searching for Forrest Fenn’s treasure chest?

Probably not the most unique… but the “best thing” might be my own humility. lol

6) What more would you like to say?

I actually do have something to say for any novice searchers who are thinking about jumping into the Chase with the rest of us:

You will save yourself a lot of pain, time, and energy if you do not let yourself get carried away with making your solve happen. I almost feel like it should be a requirement for every man, woman, and child on this adventure to maybe throw a 45 lb barbell plate or a 5 gallon water jug into a backpack and head out into the mountains to see how far you’d get. lol.

Then, remember that’s what Mr. Fenn had to go through at 80 years old. You even get to make two trips. 🙂 But then that’s your max distance of travel from here on out. Trust me… even with that thought in your head… it’s already gonna be hard not to let yourself go further.

Also, try not to get so desperate that you start thinking that every white rock or every little scratch on a tree is “the blaze”. Use that time and energy to adjust, instead. Just a friendly recommendation. 🙂

Thank you Ms. Kile!

No thank you, B!  What an awesome and amazing story and circumstance!  Your answers convey a genuine enjoyment and sense for adventure.  What courage you showed by quitting your job to go after and find more!  How admirable!  Best of luck with all that you seek!  May you find real life unicorns….Truly.  lol.

  1. I like your thought:

“do not let yourself get carried away with making your solve happen.”

Instead, get your two feet back on the ground and be thankful you can.

You’ll solve more than you could even begin to imagine.
