thrill of the chase treasure huntHi all,

Just received new ‘Periodic Words from Forrest’ and thought it best to create a new post— so it would not get missed by just adding it to the page of Periodic Words.

Enjoy!  Here they are:

So that everyone will know, and not just the searcher I replied to this morning, you don’t need to break anything to find the treasure. Please stay safe. f

    1. I interpret this to mean the tc is NOT buried bc digging on public land would not only be breaking ground, but also breaking the law. Not sure why it’s taken him this many years to confirm he didn’t bury the chest.

    1. Hard not to break my confidence as I stumble around in the proverbial dark with a general solve. Thanks Forrest.

Note to Jenny: now that a second “Anna” has joined ttotc, I will sign in as Anna Bloom to differentiate.

  1. I’ve looked b.o.t.g. high and low, based on numbers and not just the names of places. Some ended up quite remote, but no matter how remote, I just don’t believe a chest you can see from twelve feet away wouldn’t accidentally be found – even in the Rocky Mountains. I mean, I can tell you with certainty that someone would find it accidentally within another three years if this box is somewhere out in the open or on park land. Not needing to dig or break anything seems like it’s either IN THE OPEN OR WHERE YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DIG. So there. Ditch those other ideas*

    Five-leaf blaze
    1. Five-lead blaze; Forrest never said you could SEE the chest from 12′ away. Here is his quote:”Forrest once said: “I have not said that a searcher was closer than 12’ from the treasure. It is not likely that anyone would get that close and not find it.” – Please note that Forrest DID NOT say, “It is not likely that anyone would get that close and not SEE it,…he said FIND it.” A bit of a difference – JDA

  2. No matter how close I get to the treasure, no matter how clever my solve, no matter how much time and effort I put in, there seems to be that one thing that trips me up every time. Me. I should have listened to Freja the Bolder, but I didn’t.

  3. Perhaps when Forrest says “you don’t need to break anything to find the treasure”, he is indicating that the poem has been broken or cracked. Maybe this is a good time to ask Forrest (Have you received more than just a general solve?) (Has someone conveyed the “correct solve”?).

      1. Strange times indeed, Buckeye Bob.

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way—in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.” – Charles Dickens

    1. Now that would be quite a turn in the chase. I’m not sure I believe someone has solved it but this raises an interesting question. If one of us did solve and knew it (different than knowing it normally lol) how long would we be able to sit on that solution before going to get it…

  4. Buckeye Bob and JC 1117 – it certainly was strange that Forrest wore his infamous hat “mildew.” Since mildew Anagrams perfectly to “wild me,” perhaps Forrest was living out his wild side by changing his mind, or simply having “fun with his fans” but not geisha style https://youtu.be/JsUGE3uXq44

One thing is certain… as an author living out his autobiography, he certainly leans toward the subject matter… “ME” and “I/eye”

Hope everyone is enjoying summer. I’m trying to recover my senses after leaving Glacier Park to return to the concrete wilderness that is my home – for now.
Finding contentment is not as easy as it should be. In Redford’s movie “Jeremiah Johnson” a wise Native American proverb is quoted: “You search in vain for what you cannot find.”

  5. Hoping this will be a break thru for others since my search days are over…

“In Love with Yellowstone”perhaps Forrest meant “yell,”OW” or yellows “tone” musical frequency.

Satellite photo is just down the road from quake lake on the big bend of the Madison River.

NOTE the “OW” image with fish hook across from Madison Rivers topo image of outline of India or Africa.

IMO these are the type of images a pilot references and what folks should be paying attention to. Btw – I’ve mapped this area over ffs poem nicely – but more convinced it’s One place where the treasure “lies/fibs” and it more likely sits in New Mexico not far from Forrest’s current home.

    1. Interesting ideas, Anna.

      Yellow’s TONE.

Gold is where you find it…but you can’t take it with you.

Only Real Treasure is Eternal…and you can take It with you.

“All That is Gold Does Not Glitter” – J. R. R. Tolkien

“All that is gold does not glitter,
      Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
      A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”

      JC1117
      1. JC1117 – it’s my belief that the greatest treasures on earth are internal peace, forgiveness, and unconditional love which all come from authentic relationship with The Creator of the universe and lover of souls.

Upon my departure from terra firma if I discover that heaven’s streets are truly paved with gold… Well, my conclusion is gold must not be rare if it’s simply a surface to be trod upon.

Back to ff…he stated emphatically to Ralph Lauren that he plans to take some of his treasures with him. Perhaps indulgence will rest with ff’s bones. My guess is his home which sits across the street from museum hill in Santa Fe will become a living resource museum for the people and Forrest and Peggy’s earthly bodies will rest on that property until the resurrection of the saints.

Hope you enjoy your day. 😄

    1. I have been trying to get people to look at the Poem in a different way.Forrest is Good! I will give him credit for that. While i am on the subject of i, “I” is the key word in the poem. Read stanza #1 , “I” is me, so Forrest secreted his treasure chest into my mind through my eyes when i read his poem. Bravo Sir! Bravo!
Forrest you may have your treasure chest back and Thank you for the adventure!

      Jeff Street
      1. So Jeff, are you implying ttotc treasure hunt is one big con meant for adventure only, and fenn is taking his memories and box of gold rocks with him?? The thought has crossed other minds in the search community.

        Anna Bloom
          1. Maybe its not eye but eyes… or two Is. What can you do with two eyes? If you cross them and you get an X.

He did say somewhere that you should read the poem as if you are trying to put an X somewhere…

So now I just gotta look for the two eyes?!

I think I’m beginning to understand why people not obsessed with the chase think we’ve all lost our minds. Lol.

    COWBOY
    1. Cowboy, I met FF once and forgot the olives. Actually, I had already sent him a more meaningful gift which he never thanked me for. So pray tell, why do you think he wants a jar of olives? [%%) <lazy olive jar taking a siesta.
