H Charles Beil, also known as the Treasure Man, is on a mission to hide at least one treasure cache in each of the States.  Some states might contain more. The caches may contain jewels, silver bars, old relics, gold, coins, or other unique and valuable items. The Virginia Cache is said to contain pearls and over 1000 old coins.

Balloons R Fun shares his adventure in searching for the Virginia Cache with his Dad. The following Six Questions reveals what treasure hunting is all about: spending time with family, having fun, and making memories. True Treasures indeed. Enjoy!

  • 1Q) What Treasure were you searching for?

The Virginia Cache

  • 2Q) What inspired you to search for that treasure?

I have always been interested in treasure hunts, and I used to participate with my dad, in what were called Diamond Dashes, where you compete in teams of 2 and “race” across parts of a city hunting down clues that were in business windows, in street names etc, and sometimes you had to complete different tasks, which was sort of like The Amazing Race, but on a much smaller scale, and you had to figure out that clue and text in the correct answer, before you could move on to the next, and the fastest team to complete the “race” won a ring.

My dad and I competed in several of them across the states, in Philadelphia, Annapolis MD, Evansville, Roanoke VA, Charleston SC, Asheville NC, Valdosta GA, Bethlehem PA, and several others. It was very fun, and I liked that you were challenged with solving clues and completing task and my dad and I had some quality time together while doing those hunts. But since then, we sort of drifted part and went our own way so to speak, so I thought, it would be a great Father’s Day thing to do, and maybe we could get some of that quality time together back.

  • 3Q) What did you enjoy most about your search?

I always enjoy seeing the amazing wonder of nature and the beautiful sites. Also, I had so much fun, reconnecting with my dad and both of us working out where we thought the cache might be hidden, it brought back the joy we used to share and means so much to me, and he said, he had a great Father’s Day, and that made the whole trip well worth it!

  • 4Q) What did you enjoy least about your search?

Since it has been so long since this cache was hidden, not knowing if it is still out there is a very disheartening feeling. and I don’t like that it seems you might have to pay an admission fee, or a parking fee, or any fee to find the cache?. Also, we weren’t able to match a few of the pictures, because the Natural Bridge sign isn’t there anymore, it has been changed to a new location and is a different sign, the creek picture could be just about any creek, the overlook picture is a lot different then in the picture as well. It would be great to at least know that it is or isn’t still out there, there is a lot of conflicting information, such as the man and his dog story, and the not in a National Park story.

  • 5Q) What is the most unique thing you found while searching?

I didn’t really find anything unique, I saw a lot of unique sites though. Also, I discovered that I am far more out of shape than I thought I was lol.

  • 6Q) Do you plan on looking for others, have any advice for someone else looking for H Charles Beil’s treasures, or is there something more you would like to say?

This was my first BOTG experience of this kind, in over 15 years. I had a blast, and my dad did as well. It is a great way to connect, or reconnect in my case, with someone that enjoys adventure and treasure hunting as well. We have gone back 2 more times since then, and still no cache, but the adventure has been great. We have talked about maybe trying the Rogue Miner Cache, The Woodsy Swamp, and maybe even the Lost Cross one, probably sometime next month, but we are still very determined to find the Virginia Cache!

I want to thank H. Charles Beil, for giving me the opportunity and perfect excuse to spend some much needed time with my dad, through adventure and the thrill of treasure hunting. Life is too short, we need to embrace every moment that we have, and spend it with the people that we love and care about. Thank you Jenny for giving me the chance to tell of my adventure!
