Featured Question with Forrest Fenn and The Thrill of the Chase Treasure Hunt

Mr Fenn, You’ve been awfully quiet lately.  Is it because someone might have given you a correct solve within the last 10 or so months?  Thanks ~John

Dontcha just love Forrest’s answers? LOL!

Forrest’s answers remind me of The Christmas Story where Ralphie is talking about his dad’s spare tires…

“My old man’s spare tires were only tires in the academic sense. They were round. They had once been made of rubber.” 🙂

    That’s okay…though. I enjoy the mystery.

“Okay, Fred. You and the girls go that way. Me and Scooby will go this way.”

  4. Carolyn says:

Jc117, you are funny. Forrest’s answers are short and sweet.

  5. Carolyn says:

I must say, I’m thankful for that one question and answer from Forrest, but I sure do wish we had more.
    Thanks Jenny and Forrest!

  6. John C. Greco says:

Well thank you for asking the question Jenny and thank you Forrest for answering so quickly.

  7. Snider says:

Lots to think about,in the last 10 months or so.
I guess it is about time.
Another one soon, will be coming your way.

  8. Strawshadow says:

Thanks Jenny, John and Mr. Fenn,
No way, that’s not the reason.

  9. Awingit says:

Hmmm I definitely see something fishy with this q and a. I can’t quite put my finger on it just yet though.

  10. BillyinTX says:

    No John. F

    (But a female did)

    • Valerie says:

No John. I’ve been quiet for other reasons. Some lady emailed me a photo of my special spot just yesterday. lol f. How you doin?

  11. WoodyBogg says:

Now that’s funny ! The best answer yet! No john FF! OH excuse me only one F! LOL D on’t ya just LOVE FF

  12. John says:

Forrest I believe I have given you the correct solution. Now, all I have to do is go back to the spot and “look down.” You hinted at this in September, when you said “no need to look up.”
I guess the question wasnt framed correctly. John may have given Forrest the correct solution. Forrest “being quiet” may be a result of other events. In other words “being quiet” and receiving the correct solution are mutually exclusive events. I guess someone will have to ask you “if you have received the correct solve” at the book signing.

    • Clee says:

Mr. Fenn sure does enjoy a good flawed question. Well, I assume it was flawed. I suppose that could only be determined by the questioner. The answer to the question asked seemed straightforward enough for the question asked. And correct also, that is if it were not for the other noticeable flaw…

    • John C. Greco says:

Are you going to the book release? Ask your question, just like that!

  13. William says:

No they didn’t crack the poem or that’s why he’s been quite?

  14. delayah says:

    A) It’s not solved, so GIT GOIN’!!!

    B) It got solved 10 months ago (or so) but it’s not yet RETRIEVED, so GIT GOIN’!!!

    C) John is asking too many questions and F is letting him know, subtly, so GIT GOIN’!!!

    hahahhahah isn’t this chase thrilling!?!?!?

  15. OH! says:

You can’t let a “Dear John” letter go unanswered, even if the question doesn’t pertain to the answer. 🙂

  16. Seannm says:

    General solve < Correct solve

  17. Bailey says:

Here’s to hoping that someone has the correct solve, but that’s not the reason he’s been quiet. I’m almost to the Rockies. Probably last trip this year. Thanks for the Q&A Mr. Fenn and Jenny. Looking forward to a fun trip!

  18. pdenver says:

Thank you, John, Jenny, and Mr. Fenn for the “Featured Question.” Have to love a short and sweet answer. My guess is that he’s been quiet because he’s been busy with the new memoir. Does it mean someone/searchers have solved the poem? I believe he’ll remain quiet, too. That should keep us searchers crazy for a while. 🙂

  19. Mountain Ash says:

Forrest, has anyone, to your knowledge, found the blaze?

    Thank you,

  20. C.M.R. says:

Nobody had given him a correct solve, only a general solve. Nobody has given him the clues in the correct order. Somebody needs to be looking up and find the X (blaze) between heavy loads and water high. No need to break anything, so in true pirate fashion they must have to dig where X marks the spot.

    The F is an aberration.

  21. Spallies says:

What a Joy! A new question! Even if its pretty short… Maybe he’ll start posting once a week again????

  22. Iceman says:

“John” and “F” are hints. Clever. But the searcher who is closest to solving the Chase no longer needs additional hints. Now it’s just a walk in the park.

    • Zaphod73491 says:

      John F. … Kennedy. 😉

      • pdenver says:

        Or, John Fremont/John Charles Fremont.

      • Farcus says:

Finally someone who thinks… so no John F, then maybe his friend Jackie O?

        • Jdiggins says:

the last 10 or so months?
What if…we change the tense of the word last from past to present.
          That’s puts a ticker on, say til…8/18?
Someone turns 88, that would give him two years to meet one of his dreams…
Just another way to look at it tis all…
John, if you’re a real searcher and this was you’re question, thank you, and I hope youre giggling! 🙂

But if not…there are a few more things to ‘see’

    • Valerie says:

Iceman, More like a helicopter ride to the PAD. May have to ‘drop in’ to avoid trespassing on the correct inholding.

    • Valerie says:

Iceman, remember when f said whoever finds it will have earned it. He meant an uphill climb through a rough road gravel maze, first obtaining permission from a rancher to cross through his property (said rancher won’t quickly give permission). The square mile of land is a remote inholding/island of land in the middle of a large ranch. No walk in the park. Helicopter is an option is you can afford it.

    • John C. Greco says:

What gives you that idea? Just wondering… Maybe I missed something.

  23. Iceman says:

He hasn’t been quiet because someone has the correct solve. He’s been quiet because someone has really been close to it for a long time (10 months). Of course that’s just my opinion.

  24. pdenver says:

With the capitalization of Mr. Fenn’s response, it could be “NJF” as stated by Lifesablaze, or the “No” could stand for number. I’m not sure.

  25. Crimsonblaze says:

    Dear John,
Meet me at Borders and we can discuss the end is drawing nigh.

  26. Kedar's Mom says:

Someone recently asked me, who are you? I wanted to say… it’s not who you are, it’s who they think you are. Thanks for the new post jenny and forrest.

  27. fenngshui says:

    Who knows…… maybe!

  28. Sparrow says:

Actually, I just think he’s being funny. His response could be to almost anything. “Forrest, you’ve been quiet lately. Is it because McDonalds isn’t selling McRib Sandwiches right now?” –John

    No John. F

  29. Alsetenash says:

    No John.F
    No , John.

    No Dice.
    No, Dice.

Comma or no comma, there’s a difference but only if one thinks so.

  30. Sparrow says:

If not McDonalds, it could be John Denver. Quite the singer. “Rocky Mountain High”. Denver is also the capital of Colorado. But I like the McRib angle better.

  31. Buckeye Bob says:

“No john” means no excuse, doesn’t it?

  32. Lifesablaze says:

I always enjoy going on Mr. Fenn’s magic carpet rides. Does it really matter if you’re First or Fourth when you are amongst Five million in the Valley of Peace? I’m trying to understand what all the jostling for position is about.

  33. Lifesablaze says:

The airport was closed so the flight was redirected.

    • Buckeye Bob says:

But I had to laugh, I got a pop-up at the beginning that was an ad that read “Tired Of Cleaning Gutters?”
I think there’s an answer in there somewhere.

  34. Desertphile says:

    Succinct; to the point. 🙂

  35. John says:

Jenny, I posed the above question and the question on September 5th about Spanish tranlastion, sometime last year. Neither of these question are recent submissions. I didnt keep a record of when I submitted them to you. Jenny would you have any record of when either of these questions were forwarded to Forrest?

  36. crimsonblazeblog says:

I guess we are back to being literal, I buy ya books and I buy ya books.

  37. Pen Ghost says:

Is it because someone gave you a correct solve in the last 10 months or so? No, John . . . Is it because someone who gave you a correct solve in the last 10 months or so retrieved the chest? He’s busy and quiet but doesn’t say why. What’s new? Not much unless one looks at the 2 November event and the 3rd Memoir . . . Maybe John needs to look at the logic once more.

  38. WoodyBogg says:

I’m just glad my name isn’t john!

  39. Mindy says:

I guess people should go back and see what they sent F ten months and one day ago (from the day this was posted). 🙂

  40. MartinS says:

My sixth sense (which may or may not be worth as much as two sense)…

If someone is close and s/he knows it, I don’t think s/he would have to give Forrest a solve. Actually, s/he wouldn’t want to give Forrest a solve because of “security” concerns (hacked email, etc.).

However, s/he could give Forrest enough info or photos that Forrest would know but anyone else seeing his email would not know where the searcher was searching.

So every time someone asks Forrest if he’s received a correct solve, he can safely say “No”.

  41. SL says:

A ‘tree house’ looms large in the wishes of children. (It sure did/does in mine!)

Human, and/or ‘bird’ houses/nests should be a consideration. Although, likely camouflaged, (Sloane inspired), might there also be an element of … illusion? Looking back on page 122, of THOtC (unnumbered), I can see the possible makings of a nest directly behind the lower left photo of “Father.”

A look at the following Link, might be something a child could enjoy?

I often think The Flyer sees things through the eyes of a child.

    Life’s Good,

  42. tighterfocus says:

Somebody with a correct solve is likely to be clever enough to take possession of the TC before letting
FF or anyone else know about having the correct solve. I don’t think this has yet happened.

    • Pen Ghost says:

Nice try. FF has been named a mentor/teacher. You know all of the mentors, teachers, hmmm they have eyes in the back of their heads – probably eyes all over their bodies. I doubt anyone would get away without FF somehow knowing even if it was in his dreams . . .

  43. Strawshadow says:

    Sometimes, Less is more

  44. passenger says:

Thanks for the advise Forrest! In my area John’s get 3 days in the pokey.

  45. aeromancy b says:

Happy 150th Anniversary 10 Bear, Man of Peace. We sure could use some Bear people today. Bullets have replaced brains and heart and a natural code of honor. Was being free to wander really asking so much? No people should have to beg to keep their souls fed. This is definitely my opinion. Thanks Forrest, again, for showing us.

  46. Alsetenash says:

It appears to me that FF was rather active normal pattern for SB’s and Q&A’ s on Dal’s and MW sites through untill April or May when he really upticked his postings He slowed down or say ‘quiet’ after then. So really only half the time said in this question. I dunno, it’s just what I can see. IMO . FF kind of slowed down in postings for only 4 or 5 months from what I can see. He really upticked his posts mores so than historical patterns , in April ,then slowed down . IMO .

    • Crimsonblaze says:

So what you getting at, he’s average or consistent?

      • Alsetenash says:

He appears to be consistent prior to April when he suddenly posted stories like 2 a week up from 1 or 2 a month. Then beginning in May he slowed from that Aprils uptick pace to his more consistent pace pre April. But after May he slowed down in his postings to a lesser degree after April than pre April. So really, 4-5 months he has been much quieter than any previous patterns. IMO . I I were to create a graph , it would probably show this. From what I have seen so far of pictures in his new book there are a free April SB’s and other stories in it. It will be interesting to note just how many of Aprils stories are in the book. This will highlight the ‘ pattern’ . IMO .

        • Alsetenash says:

Few not ”free’ and If not ‘I I’. Bad edit on my part.

        • Crimsonblaze says:

I guess u just gonna hafta wait for the book to come out to see if they mad the cut.

          • Alsetenash says:

A can see by some recent pictures of in the book being posted that a couple have made the cut. Just 5 months before the books release and these are in the book. My personal point about all this,is Everything FF posts and says is with purposeful intent. Everything is thinking before hand leading to in a result , not ad hoc. This is a book after all. IMO .

  47. aeromancy b says:

Sorry, that should read “10 Bears.”

  48. NearIndianaJones says:

  49. MS girl says:

Talk is cheap, lets find this treasure box and get ‘er done. If anyone has figured it out or gotten close I believe we all would know by now. Still in the chase. Thanks for all the questions and things Jenny Winter is upon us and we might have to wait another while to find indulgence. Thanks, Ms. Girl

  50. Jdiggins says:

But 4:30 days are almost here! It ain’t over yet! 🙂

  51. Strawshadow says:

Silence will never be a hint.

  52. Jdiggins says:

Speaking of silence, how can people think they can call Forrest if he’s somewhat deaf?

  53. Crimsonblaze says:

Ya just gotta yell real loud.
